I was thinking about this today, as I was reading the article from Jerry Weintraub, that Elvis always arrived at the arena ready & dressed up for the show but in the CBS Elvis in concert tv special he actually arrives in casual clothes & get changed in the room! I thought that even by 77 he left the hotels in jumpsuit, guess I was wrong!:)any thoughts?

Yes, usually Elvis did arrive at the arena fully dressed, but never at the airport. Most airport pictures will show you an Elvis wearing private clothes. After the arrival Elvis will go to his hotel/motel and change there for the show.

Leroy,
I think what Paul is referring to is this: In the CBS Tapes footage from Rapid City, SD Elvis does arrive at the arena in his DEA suit and then goes backstage to the dressing room to change into the Mexican Sundial suit for the show.

there was probably a tight cleaning schedule when he was using the same suit night after night

I would venture to guess that you're right. Either the airport or hotel.
Perhaps the fact that this concert was being taped and he had to have special make-up done before hand had something to do with dressing at the venue.

I would vote for a tight schedule and arriving in Rapid City with only enough time to go straight to the arena. :hmm:
TCB!
