Ok, so I was reading some of Elvis The Final Years by Jerry Hopkins again today. Was talking about how Kathy hadn't been liking the way Elvis had been introducing her during the tour and so she asked Tom Diskin and he apparently had told Elvis about it right before he hit the stage..and this was supposedly on July 21st 1975 in Greensboro, NC. Not July 20th in Norfolk according to the book. The next day the group was suppose to leave the airport at around 4:30 that afternoon but at two Elvis called and told everyone they were leaving then and that he would be coming soon. So apparently everyone were leaving and stopped and got icecream cause they were sort of mad he had them leave before the scheduled departure time.

Wouldn't you know they were all standing there and Elvis went by and saw them all standing there. So he gets to the airport and ask if everyone was ready and obviously they weren't because they stopped to get icecream. So he made everyone that was on the plane get off and he got on and said if they can't do what I tell 'em then leave their a$$ here. And he took off and left them standing on the runway. Apparently when he arrived in Ashville he was in the limiousine and had the plane go back and get them.

Ok, now back to the catfish story. Was it the 20th in Norfolk Virigina or in Greensboro that Elvis said to Kathy, "If you don't like the way I introduce you, then get off the pot".

It seem's this was a strange time period for Elvis..and truly right before everything started going down hill fast until 8.16th. 1977.
He spent more money than ever after that tour finsished in Ashville. Buying around 15 cars, buying 2 jets, including the Lisa Marie. This obviously isn't the type of behavior we are accustom to seeing from our hero but goes to show you he was human. If you ask me though, I think alot of this erratic behavior was due to the medication having strange side effects on him. It wasn't less than a month after this stuff happened, on the way to Vegas in August that he almost died flying in the plan, and told them to land the plane that he wasn't going to make it and put his face to the air vents so he could breathe! If you have researched alot of the medication he took on a regular basis, they called low respitory problems...and rapid heartbeats...

Well that is a matter of much debate-many have reported it was a "nip and tuck of his eyes only" So IMO the jury is out on that question.

KPM,

No, the jury has reached a verdict. It wasn't a full face lift. It, as you've already stated, was only a "nip and tuck" type of surgery.....

If Elvis had underwent a full facelift (Oh the horror!) he would have looked much different than he did after just the "nip & tuck" surgery

Charlie Hodge mentioned in his book that it was a simple eye lift but that they had all told him he didn't need it and that it took away the little droop at the corner of his eyes and they felt that was a loss.

Diane,

Correct. Everybody around him tried to talk him out of it.....but they were unsuccessful. Sonny West got PO'd because Elvis had billed the surgery to his (Sonny's) Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance.

Sorry guys, i didn't mean he had a full face lift..just went by what I read..In Jerry Hopkin's book he says a bodygaurd came up to his room , and Elvis said look hear, and pulled his hair back on the sides and revealed the stitches. If this was a nip tuck surgery on his eyes, why would he have stitches on the side of his head:hmm::hmm:

I think Jerry H. exaggerated a lot of things in his book. There's a few errors. From all accounts it was just a simple "nip and tuck" type of operation...

Actually, it was June 15th or 16th.

Elvis went into hospital on the 15th, and left on the 17th.

He also attended his podiatrist on the June 29th.
