How were the jumpsuits cleaned up after a show?

I've been looking the jumpsuits forum, but I still don't know how they were cleaned up. They have a lot of stones and jewerly on... :hmm: Can anybody tell me about it, please? I'm intrigued about it. Thanks in advance. :D

Even that must have been a nightmare. You just don't walk into any old dry cleaner and ask them to do Elvis' jumpsuit. It has to be somebody you know and trust. And the stress on the drycleaner must have been urreal. Suppose you messed it up or some stones fell out. Everything in this man's life was complicated.

He Is great at it, There Few us Don't know about Jumpsuits, I'm happy have him on here.

As far as cleaning jumpsuits, try going to B & K Enterprises Jumpsuits. As you know they make exact copies of the suits and on there they have instuctions for cleaning. Try this:

STUDDED SUITS:
Hand-wash in cold water. Fill tub about 5" with cold water. Add a little Woolite and stir to blend. Place suit in cold water and gently swish around. After suit is thoroughly submerged, rub any spots or stains with a bar of Ivory Soap. Turn suit over and repeat for other side (approximately 2-3 minutes per side.) Drain water from tub and refill with clean cold water to rinse suit. Drain tub and carefully remove suit from tub. Place suit on large white towels. Pat dry on both sides then hang up and let suit drip-dry with fan blowing on it to speed drying. Carefully press over creases with a steam iron or use steamer to remove wrinkles. Stones and some studs have been hot glued to help insure that they won't come off. Use caution when ironing not to get too close to stones or studs!

If you have a "Hand Wash" cycle on your washing machine, you may place your suit in a king-sized pillow case and place in the machine on the cold water, hand wash cycle. Pre-treatment with "Shout" will help remove any stains which may be on the suit. Be sure to place it inside a pillow case on the hand wash cycle!



EMBROIDERED SUITS:
These should be DRY CLEANED ONLY! When you take your suit to the cleaner, tell them to use "a short cycle with low moisture, and dry at 120 degrees."


SHIRTS:

May be machine washed in cold water and Woolite on the gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat. Satin shirts should be pressed on Polyester setting. You may want to place in a garment bag to prevent snagging. Cotton shirts can be pressed on the Cotton setting.

DISCLAIMER:

Even though we use the highest quality materials (rhinestones, nailheads, threads etc.) we don't manufacture them. Therefore we cannot be held responsible for any future damage these items may cause to your garment.


GOLD LAMÉ JACKETS:
Place disposable dress shields under arms to absorb sweat. Gently wipe jacket with damp washcloth as needed. Jacket may be dry cleaned.


LEATHER GARMENTS:

Should be cleaned ONLY by a PROFESSIONAL LEATHER CLEANER!



SPEEDWAY JACKETS:

Machine wash in cold water with mild detergent on gentle cycle. Remove immediately. Tumble dry on low heat. Press with med-high steam iron.

Or suppose that the fans find out and raid the cleaners? Were the
employees sworn to secrecy? Or did they bring in their friends after
hours to touch Elvis' costumes? We know that some stones fell off
during performances, surely someone said 'what's one missing stone?'
because weren't the stones genuine? Semi-precious at least?

Personally, if I were the drycleaner, I wouldn't have been able to clean the suit because I would have been standing there speechless that I was ACTUALLY HOLDING ELVIS PRESLEY'S JUMPSUIT!!! :supriced: ;)

I just saw Maid in Manhattan with Jennifer Lopez. There's that scene where
they are 'cleaning' that one suite, where they try on the guest's clothes.
I wonder if the cleaner didn't look around carefully, put on Elvis' costume,
pick up a clothes brush and dance around singing 'Are you looking for Trouble?. . .'
