I was listening to this today and I was thinking wow, this sounded great as a non studio recorded track. If this would have been studio recorded, it might have been a hit. It sounded great, great track. (y)
It was a hit several times for others way back to the 40s Vaughn Monroe, Bing Crosby, Gene Autry had hits with it-the version I like is by Johnny Cash.

two of my favorite characters - Johnny & the muppets, i grew up listening to the trio "Riders in t he Sky' so it's their version that i prefer.

This is one of Elvis singing the song. I'd never heard his cover or seen this clip. It does appear to be him singing, not one edited to go witht he song!
(y)Lonnie, I followed your directions on posting videos, :'( so here's hoping it goes through!

I love this song and I have Elvis singing it on one of my CD's...not sure which one though. I do love the way he sings it but I also love Johnny Cash's version.

Nicely done, Lisa!
I do believe this is one of Keith Flynn's clever edits though, which are really great.

Yes that`s right, from Elvisnews:
Additionally the label will re-release the CD originally included in the "The Way It Was" book as a regular 5” CD. This does not constitute a policy of releasing all book CD’s as separate re-releases though, the label will in each case evaluate the demand and historic relevance for such releases.
