Why not recreate the upstairs on the other side of the street where all the other stuff is! how many visitors would that get if it was done accuratly and really reaslisticly and properly! if graceland dowsnt do it someone should buy some land and do it! and why not have a really amazing wax model of elvis like the one of him in madame tussauds las vegas, check it out! when your there its meant to be incredibly realistic!!! it talks aswell!!!!

Possibly a good idea ...

Definitely a bad idea! Elvis is dead ... nobody needs to see a wax dummy or computer hologram "talking" about anything. The one in Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas is hideous!

That has been discussed before, and of course would be great; but, in my opinion, depends on the personal feelings of the owner, Lisa Marie Presley, so I don't think it's in the works.

It would be nice to see what the upstairs looked like but l can't see them making another place for elvis bedroom and how it looked. I guess its going to be a mystery for along time.

I wouldn't re-create the upstairs. But, that's just me.
Wouldn't like a wax dummy either ; talking or otherwise.
Think that would be poor taste and would hurt Lisa every time she had to look at it.
I have no real feelings on this one-it they did-okay-if they didn't fine also.

Wax figures scare me to death! I would pay money to NOT have to look at a wax figure....of anyone!!:supriced::supriced:

I don't really like the idea of a recreation of Graceland's upstairs as that would mean yet another building and I don't want to see the mansion all crowded in. I personally don't really feel the need to see the upstairs...maybe the bedroom but not the bathroom.
I'm not in favor of a wax figure either. None ever do him justice so it would just look like some cheap artifact.

Most fans have seen the upstairs online. The only way i'd like to see it is if i could see the real deal. My morbid curiousity wants to see the bathroom too. One question.. Why would they clean out his room? i understand if they got rid of the hygene stuff, toothpaste, soap, ect. But leave his television, bed, and everything else alone. If his room was cleared out, where is his stuff in the attic?

I think recreating the upstairs, minus the bathroom is a good idea. Especially since the upstairs i(may or may not) be empty now. It could even be as computer generated movie. I saw one at a Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit and it was just like walking around at that time.
I'm not for a wax dummy, but if Lisa can look at ELvis slippers, shot glasses or salt and pepper shakers and not be upset, why would that bother her. Alot of Graceland products don't look anything like ELvis.

I hope this isn't going to be considered a "smart-aleck" type of response but....
If you watch "This Is Elvis", you'll see the bedroom and the upstairs area.....and, quite frankly, I'm happy with that.
And a definite "thumbs down" to a wax replica....they never do anybody justice....

In This Is Elvis, is the bedroom and the upstairs area shown exactly as it was when Elvis was alive?
Yes, thumbs down to a wax replica...(n)...they never get it right!

Franny,
"This Is Elvis" was released in 1981 (I don't know when filming began for the movie) so, yes, the upstairs (and the entire mansion) is as Elvis left it in 1977 before Priscilla redecorated it prior to it opening to the public in 1982.

Thanks, Tony and Jen. (y)
I have This Is Elvis, I haven't seen it lately, but the only reason I asked if the upstairs was exactly the same is because I thought they may have changed it prior to it being made...

There won't be any new facilities built across from Graceland anytime soon with the plans to tear down the current setup in favor for the new facilities to be built north of the mansion on the mansion's side of the road. But I like your idea of a recreated upstairs. Don't be surprised if something like this comes to pass. At least a replica of the master bedroom. I say that since so many fans want to see the upstairs badly as it is and they have no way of taking daily tours of the upstairs. I am believing this is in the works as it has been brought to EPE's attention in the past since the big redevelopment announcements were made and seems to be a popular addition.
Also, don't be surprised if there is an EP wax museum type of attraction in the plans too. Either a wax museum itself or wax figures for certain exhibits. The Army has already gone this route for their hi tech museum.
I will bet my house that Bob Sillerman is planning some type of a hologram EP attraction. The plans for the 4-D technology experience attraction that Soden has alluded to is the big hint.;)

That's all we ever get on threads similar to this! (n)
Like most posters on here, I prefer to wait until I hear from EPE itself before getting too excited/offended.
