I was intriged by the Smith side of Elvis' family since my Mothers' maiden name is Smith and i have a Cousin Billy Smith and Gene Smith too. And i'm related to J.D. Sumner on my Dads' side of the family. And J.D.S' Father founded the Lake Wire Church in Lakeland, Florida. I was born in Lakeland Reginol (formaly Lakeland General Hospital)

John looking up to see if you are related isn't that hard anymore. Most geneology sites do charge a small amount per month. You can cancell your membership at any time. But I warn you, it can get addicting and time consuming if you take it too far. I have done hubs mother's side, fathers side, back 4-5 generation. Now I'm starting on my side. I just wanted to do it to document the Cherokee blood line-now I can't stop. Someone help me!!!!

I'm pretty sure i'm not related to Elvis(too bad) But my cousin Bruce Sumner did some research and swears we are related to J.D. I never got to meet J.D. or anything. And he would be a distant cousin anyway, but it would be fun to find out if it's true.

I always threatened to look up my son-in-laws geneology as his last name is also Smith and they were born and raised in and around Memphis . His dad just laughed and said he didn't think they were related .
I've never worked up enough interest to get into all that.
