Rosanne, do you remember what the atmosphere was like at these shows?? I always thought that it may have been kind of a cold amosphere for Elvis, a tiny stage , no big orchestra and being so far away from the fans!
Thanks

That is a good question PaulV.
Wondering if Elvis was feeling kinda small out there!

I remember well...I actually taped both shows. The atmosphere was good in that the audience was receptive....but he was a million miles away. The sound was not great either. And I was used to seeing him in Vegas, so you can imagine the difference. But....it was better than NOT being there. :D I also remember almost getting squished at the railing, I had seats on the front row..so when he came out in the jeep there were thousands of women pushing from behind.

One other thing I remember Paul. The show at night was better to watch than the afternoon show because it was dark, so all you would see was the stage. At the afternoon show there was alot of distraction because it was broad daylight in there. I looked and found my pics from that afternoon...they are almost exactly how these pics look. (y)

We met as pen pals thru an Elvis fan club. I lived in Dallas and Gail lived in Houston. We became really close....one weekend she flew to Dallas and spent the weekend with me. We were 2 teenagers having a blast staying up all night talking Elvis. We remained close until we both married and drifted apart. You guys have NO idea how many times I have thought of Gail, and wondered where in the world she was! Elvis has worked his magic one more time...and here we have found each other after 30 years. I would like to think he's smiling down at this moment! (y)

Was it Sean Shaver's fan club we met through? I know we wrote hundreds, if not thousands of letters. And, the long distance phone calls - remember getting in trouble for talking on the phone too long and too often?? We couldn't help it - we had to talk about the latest album, the lastest tour, the next time we were gonna see him!!! OMG - those were the days!!! I still have a picture of you somewhere - I'm gonna have to go on a search through boxes and find it!!
Yes, Elvis has definitely worked his magic again - never in my wildest dreams did I ever think of finding you here today - or any other day for that matter!!

You guys have no idea how happy this made me last night!! I've thought about her so many times. In fact, about a month ago I found this girl on MySpace and I thought she was her daughter and was so let down when it wasn't! We were so young and so very much in love with Elvis - the other kids at school didn't understand - but we both spoke the same language!! She was my first and bestest Elvis friend I ever had!!! I love that girl! Cheers to Toffe for posting these pictures that brought me in this thread!!

The shows are different because the orchestra is gone.Elvis always had such a "big" sound in his concerts. At these shows you just get him and his band. That made it unique.

Look at that hair!!! Me on the stage, my mom with the big red hair, and the others were people that just at the table. I think the girl in the blue dress was from Oklahoma. Notice the little red scarf around my neck - that's what I waved in the air and got his attention and gave it to him - he was so happy to get my scarf that he gave me a kiss!! lol

DEFINITELY JAK!! (y)
It sounds like one big rehearsal session (similar to the ELVIS ON TOUR OUTTAKES FTD CD)!! Very cool to hear some of the songs that we are only accustomed to hearing with full orchestration without all of the extra accompanyment...just Elvis and the rhythm section and backup singers!
A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED CD FOR SURE!!!

I'll tell you a funny story Carole. That girl on the end looks ALOT like I looked at that age. The 1st time we went to Vegas to see him I had my pic made there at the table(remember the photographers who came around and made pics?). My top looked IDENTICAL to the top she is wearing, but guess what I had on???? Oh my gosh! This day is etched in my heart forever. We started talking on the phone that night and never quit. We talked for hours on end. One day about a month later, my husband said to me "I haven't see you this happy in a long". And, it was true, my life was missing something but I really never knew it until she came back into it. Now, she's out of it again and I'm just sitting here crying my eyes wondering why did he put her back into my life to only take her out again? Can someone please tell me WHY??????

Have faith. Some things aren't meant to be understood in this world.

Thanks Diane! Believe it or not...we are all ready looking at our calendars and The Peabody's calendar so that we can spend a weekend together in Memphis. :D:D
I can't wait!! What is so interesting is that after the night we re-connected on here we talked on the phone for 3 hours the next day...and it really was as though we had talked just last week. Gail is the type of person that if she is your friend, then she is really your friend forever!
Forever and ever Rosanne - I miss you terribly already.

I remember this thread like it was yesterday...even though, it wasn't so long ago.
It was one of the most touching stories I have ever read...
I'm thinking of you both Gail and Kim.
May God give you strength at this most difficult time.

Gail, this was thread was so much fun for me, you weren't as frequent a poster as Roseanne - who was? - and for the two of you to find each other - was so much fun for me! The wonderful thing about Roseanne, she was such a loyal friend, so quick to cover our backs when she felt one of us was being attacked, so quick to point out when we were just too full of ourselves, and I also remember a few threads where we teased you about your fabulous Texas up-do back in the day! I know you're in pain, I didn't know her personally, but Roseanne was one of those special people that reached beyond cyberspace! She touched my life, I'm just now able to express myself without breaking down in the middle of it all, and I must back away as tears fall on my keyboard.
Love to you, dear, hang in there,
thoughts & prayers, Lisa

I don't know what I was doing the first time around but I don't remember this. Regardless, it was wonderful to read now and of course, bittersweet. These are just my little words, Gail, and easy for me to say but it seems to me that this time you all shared for the last year and a half was such a wonderful gift. It is of course unspeakably tragic that it has ended, that Rosanne is no longer among us but...well, that's all I can say. I can't blame you for feeling the way that you do...We are all thankful that she was a part of this community and it is wonderful that you two had found each other here. I am sorry that I cannot think of more comforting things to say.

Oh My!!! I just found this post. And, you are so right! Those two little bitty posts were life changing for both of us. I just sat here and read it again. I'm gonna frame posts 17 and 18 for my Elvis room.

WOW - 4 years ago yesterday this thread came alive!! It now seems like it was 40 years ago. She came to visit me in a dream the day after my birthday. It was the best dream I have had in a very long time. There was a guy named Elvis in the dream too. Nothing but happy times in that dream I tell you for sure!!!
