I have been to this place in Pigeon Forge, Tn near Gatlinburg a couple times before. But that was back when I was around 13 or 14 in the 80's. I can't believe this place is still in business.:supriced: Much less now have their own video introduction to the place. Check out this video. They got their kids to do a script advertisement as if they really were enjoying it. And the impersonators show is a joke and just another reason why they all should be banned.(n)

WHEN did they start with an impersonator show?? I live close enough to visit everyday and the last time I was there, the building was not big enough to host a "show." Maybe they moved. I remember going to this museum as a little girl. The MEMORIES theater in Sevierville is very nice. That`s where Charlie Hodge used to work. I saw and talked to Charlie several times over the years. Extremely sweet and personable man.

Yeah, those kids were definitely actin.

That one girl looked embarrassed to be doin it.

Me and Trey saw this place on the way to Gatlinburg last August. But we didn't stop.

I figured it was just a cheap ripoff.

Plus, we got the real thing here.:)

We didn't stay in Pigeon Forge, we just drove straight through.

We were gonna go to Dollywood but it was too hot that day.

I loved Gatlinburg!

So romantic and friendly.

It's a shame Memphis don't take notes from them on becomin a real tourists friendly city.

The Ripley's Aquarium was gorgous, and the sky lift ride up the mountain was so nice!

We walked for miles from shop to shop, museum to museum, and sightseein and really enjoyin our vacation.

What shocked me and Trey the most was all the love and respect we got as an IR couple in that part of the country.

I was probably the only black person in town, lol.

It`s not a place with cheap stuff. It`s very nice and well done.
The love and respect you recieved here is called "Southern hospitality."
People from all over the world and from all ethinic groups, travel to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so I seriously doubt you were the only black person there. ;)

It was a figure of speech.

I'm sure there were others. In fact, now that I remember, there was an older black couple who were there in one of the gift stores comin out as we were goin in. So I wasn't the only one, lol

But, I meant, I didn't see many walkin down the streets as you would a normal tourist attraction.

But I know about southern hospitality, I live in Tennessee as well, in Memphis.

Gatlinburg was a classy place and I wanna go back next year.

Although we've been wantin to go to Vegas as well.:)

I've visited this museum a good number of times in my life, and I've always enjoyed it.

While their collection isn't as large as say Gracelands, they do have many interesting exhibits, plus a nice theatre that shows various Elvis films and documentaries.

I recommend it anytime you're in the area...worth checking out (y)

I been here and bad thing about is driving time, you want go a mile it took us 45 mins get there that's one mile , if that happened in Memphis it will be a longer driving time thru Elvis Presley Blvd. good thing about it It will help Memphis grow bigger and better , it's 20 years ago I was in Memphis It was bad shape we drive thru bad spot of town, we didn't stop to get gas or something to eat, it took us 15 mins found graceland between danny thomas st. and Elvis Presley Blvd. you can see where bad spot ends and see good spot starts , we was happy be on Elvis Presley Blvd. It was because We going To Graceland, we know it safe there, whitehaven was cleaner place, I think it was that Time 1987,
Tom

Not trying to get off topic here but I have a question and I am sure others would like to know also. Why doesn't Memphis try to improve the city to where more tourists would want to go there and spend money? Why not try to be more like a world class type of city and attraction than just another dirty inner city?

Because we got a crooked government.

The FBI is currently investigatin our Mayor's office associates.

When there's corruption, that means the money goes to the wrong folks.

Outsiders are always sayin there's so much potential in Memphis, but as long as our government is corrupt, it aint gonna change anytime soon.

This is why I don't think the Graceland plans will be happenin like they should.

Subject of this thread is about the Elvis Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN - not about Graceland or any possible projects for the Graceland area.

Therefore, lets get back on topic. The latter subject has been discussed quite a number of times on here in many different threads. :cop:

Who was talking about Graceland or projects in the area? I ask a simple question regarding why Memphis as a city doesn't improve to be a better tourists city like Gatlinburg is. I even said I wasn't trying to get off topic with my question. So I have no idea as to why you would say that?:hmm:

It`s been awhile since I last visited, although I pass by it every time I go to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. My first visit was in the early `80s, when it first opened. They have some impressive collection pieces. I remember visiting as a young girl...around 12 or so....and being blown away by so much "Elvis" stuff in one room. lol
