And if you like to use pictures with music, you can also use photostory (also free on microsoft.com -with a legal and activated windows only-)

I forgot about moviemaker, but indeed, that program is great: not difficult and great results (y)

I use Windows Movie Maker but I have a question for the movie experts out there. I'm able to create a movie using still photos and transitions with music playing in the background. I'd really like to add an audio clip of one of Elvis' press conferences. The one where he says 'the image is one the thing, the man is another. It's hard to live up to an image'.

I have the press conference in flash video format but Windows Movie Maker won't accept that format. Can someone tell me how to get the flash video into a format that Windows Movie Maker will accept? I'd also like to edit the flash video because I just want a tiny clip, not the whole press conference. I only need the audio portion.

Thanks in advance!

This is my first time making a movie so I hope I'm answering this right. I have two copies of the press conference. When I right click on the file names then select properties, I get the following for the type of file:

flash video
real player presentation

The actual file extension doesn't show up in the file name. Is there a way I can view the actual file extension without having to click on properties?

when you go to properties, under general, look at "type of file" and it should tell you.
The only way your gona do it it by going to google, type in 'Flash video to WMV' (wmv file is the one you need for windows movie maker)
And see if there is a way of converting it..

Yes, I think that should work too Danielle :D(y)

I use Windows Movie Maker too and sometimes Photostory....but the only thing I don't like about Photostory is that you can't add footage :'(
