Who do you think was elvis closest friend?? I think Billy, Red and Jerry were pretty close. I sometimes wonder who elvis really trusted with his personal thoughts and feelings on things. I would think Billy.

I know JD Summner said him and Elvis had some very deep conversations.

This is a very hard question to answer because a lot of people claiming to be his "best friend". But I've heard and read about him confiding in The Sweets and some other people that weren't the MM.

I never spoke to him so I don't "know". I'll give you my impression based on the stories that the various members of the MM , and others have told. As a Kid Elvis wasn't popular. He wanted to be part of the gang but he just never was right through High School this seemed to be the case. So when he started being the center of the world and people came to him for friendship, I don't think he ever had a Best friend. Not one that lasted for any length of time. I think he got different things from different people and that he had such a wide range of interests that who his best friend was changed all the time.

I think He enjoyed being the leader of his group, I think he liked them all but I'm not sure he ever totally committed to the ideal that they were really there for him, and not "ELVIS" the image the star. Of course I could be wrong but thats what I think about the topic.

Good answer JDD.:D

I think he was fairly close to them all at some point...but @ the end I don't think he trust any of them that were left, w/the exception of Billy.
I think Billy was ALWAYS the closest to him...Billy to me isn't even in the same category as the rest of the MM. :D

Ultimately I think Elvis didn't have any 'best friends' IMO there were people around him who he trusted but just like Judas they all eventually let him down one way or another... intentionally or unintentionally

I think he trusted different poeple in different times of his life. I heard though that Joe Esposito and Charlie Hodge were good friends to him.

Well, even though Billy was family, you could tell he truly loved and cared for Elvis as a person, and not for any other reason.I believe Billy never took advantage of Elvis' generousity. And Red was one of his oldest friends, and he was a true friend, even though it hurt to read "Elvis..What Happened",he did it only to wake Elvis up and make him stop over medicating himself. And Joe Esposito,Jerry Shilling,Charlie Hodge,J.D. Sumner(who i recently found out was my distant cousin, though we never met)

Is this about how we feel or what we think Elvis felt?

Got it. Well you know my answer. Good question though because I think it shows that Elvis was a friend to so many. He may have gotten mad but always wanted to think the best of people. I think he made them all feel special in their own way. Who did he feel strongest about? Billy. I guess there are just things I know that sway my thinking.

I go with JD and Matt. I don't think Elvis had a "best friend" for any length of time. I think the only lasting close friendship he had was with his cousin Billy.
