I would give him a special guitar, maybe one of my hubs favorite ones.

And a video made of his family progressing throught the years.

As for an actual gift, I would give him a huge CD collection of gospel music and a hand painted photo of his mom when she was younger on canvas. :)

great thread Missy! Tough question. Without a doubt, I'd give him my time, and listen to his feelings and thoughts. And let him know that I was there for him - without it leaking to the press, etc. that I wanted nothing from him but his company.

well, he played in the 50s some concerts in canada, spent part of his army time in germany, visited paris and had on his way home a stop-over in scotland.

so at least he was aware that there exists a world outside the US, wasn't he? ;)
