im doin a research project on fans and was wondering what everyone thinks of this and why

Fandom functions an alternative reality, it provides escapism from lives where they feel alienated.

I'm not sure what you are asking. But I can tell you from my experience, alot of my friends who are die hard Elvis fans were abused or had very hard lives. It is as if as long as you have Elvis' voice or his picture, you can make it through anything. One of the first things I bought after Hurricane Katrina was an Elvis CD. I did have much clothes or anything else, but I needed him. I needed to hear him.
