does anyone think they have a bond between themselves and elvis in any way? e.g. strong parallels between your own lives and his.

Very interesting question. One of the things that made Elvis so fascinating, was for all of his super-human attributes, he had a lot of the same problems as the rest of us. Personally, I've fought my weight my whole life, I've also had loved ones who suffered or suffer from depression, who've battled prescription dependancy. I'm very reckless, or at least too carefree with money, and I'd like to say I'm generous to a fault, with the little money I do have.

I bond to Elvis through his music. The way he can express his feelings/emotions . Everyone has experienced some of the rough periods he went through, IMO. Both personal and public.
Our lives are very unrelated. ;)

That's Elvis Does To me, went I was young teen I was going hard time, some how Elvis herlp me get that hole I was and I been Fan over 30 years since that day.
