Donny Osmond told a US entertainment show about his first encounter with Elvis Presley and how ‘The King’ became a family friend.

The singer told Entertainment Tonight he first met Elvis in Las Vegas. Osmond said: “I was sitting on the sofa looking at Elvis talking in that way he did and thought there’s a real person. He was down to earth and a really nice guy.”

Osmond also revealed how Elvis liked to check in on the family to see how they were, and even invited them round for dinner.

Donny said: “He loved calling my mum on the phone because he wanted to learn more about our family.”

He added: “He invited us over to his house to cook us some steaks. But he passed in 77′, three months before we were supposed to do that, so unfortunately it never happened.”

Thanks, Jen.

Isn't someone making a movie about EP connected with the Mormon church ? Heard about it, saw a clip, but nothing lately.

Thanks Jen...Donny seems like a real nice, down to earth guy.....since Marie has been on Dancing With The Stars - he's been on tv alot and interviewing her, etc. He's cool. I've always liked him - did you notice when they were younger and performing - they dressed like Elvis in jumpsuits?

I did not like the Osmonds back in the late 60s early 70s. When they wore the Elvis jumpsuits I cringed. But now with a little hindsight I must admit they did have talent. They were on the "Andy Williams show" quite a bit before they began to wear jumpsuits and had any real hits. They are a pretty close knit family and I admire that.

I always loved the Osmonds . Watched Donny and Marie grow up.
A little known fact about Donny I thought was interesting, as I had researched this quite awhile ago. My youngest child is dealing with this now.
Always wondered if Elvis might have had this too.

American singer, Donny Osmond, who had his first major hit Puppy Love in 1972 and starred in the TV show Donny and Marie from 1976-1978 suffers from anxiety. Donny had stage fright and experienced a panic attack during a performance in 1994.
The panic attacks prevented him from singing and made him believe he was going to black out. Donny was scared of shopping centres as he thought people might gather around to ridicule him. Donny sought assistance from a psychologist and engaged in cognitive behavioural therapy.

I met Donny Osmond in 2000. I have a picture of me with him somewhere I have to look for it. I've met a lot of musicians and movie stars while living in Hollywood and not one compares to Donny Osmond. He took his time and talked to me for as long it took, while signing autographs.
He told me a bunch of stuff about Elvis. One was how he wanted to protect them from the mafia in Vegas.
If anyone ever noticed other than a bunch of other groups, the Osmonds copied the Elvis Jumpsuit look.

Check out these You Tube Videos..If Elvis had 5 sons, this is probably what their show would look like..lol

You're very welcome, Cameron. Glad you enjoyed it. My older sisters were big fans and had them large faced posters of Donny in their room. They also used to watch the Donny & Marie show every Friday.
