Who here would like to see an FTD release of some of Elvis' best vocal performances mixed so you can only hear Elvis' voice? In other words, an Elvis acapella album. I think this would be a perfet release for a label like FTD. I know I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

No,not me Wildstyle ... maybe a Gospel tune or two but I cant imagine listening to the songs "Acapela". "In the Ghetto" or " Baby I dont care" or even "Kissin Cousins " is not played a lot by me!

No, please don't let them do that!!!
I think it is okay if the song was recorded a capella (or almost a capella, like Rolling Sea, Curtis) but hey, leave the man's recorded music as it is!

Well, ONLY Elvis, no. But Elvis with only a few instruments, yes. Sometime ago I heard some Mirror Spock Extraction tracks where all instruments were removed. They really did an excellent job on it and many tracks sounded stunning. Here's an example of those tracks, "The Wonderfull World Of Christmas" (vocals only):

WOW. I could actually listen to a lot of those. Not the sort of thing you would maybe play all the time, but the main thing that draws all of us to Elvis is his voice, so why not zero in on that?
Thanks for that, Albert. Sounds great to me.

The sample sounds great,thanks Albert!!
I have to agree,Elvis with a few instruments:yes.
But with no instruments at all it must sound very strange. The various samples stated earlier give the proof that something is "missing".
What could be more interesting perhaps is a vocal album. Something they did with the "Elvis the concert" versions but only use backing vocals.
Now THAT would be the ultimate Gospelrelease ,Elvis singing in a quartet, just like he always wanted...

Can you tell us more about this extraction process or point to a web site?

I have found it almost a year ago. Why it's called the Mirror Spock Extraction has to do with the procedure of removing audio layers. Once I had a really good explanation about how this procedure went, but after a harddrive format (with a lousy made backup ), I've lost it.

That sounded absolutely beautiful!! I would love to have a CD with only Elvis's voice, I think that would be fantastic. Good idea!!

Thanks Albert, sounds good. I would like to hear more like this, but I do think it especially works for this kind of music, but I could be wrong off course.

After hearing that sample, how could you say no to an idea like this. Artists releasing acapella's to the general public is common these days. I don't see a downside to such a release on FTD.
Or, how about a release of just elvis' vocals and the instrument he was playing at the time? Things like that would be amazing to hear. Not enough people are behind it though, so I guess it won't happen

I don't know that might not be a good idea, but maybe with just a few instruments.

The danger with such a release is that it would be an open invitation for the vocal takes to be sampled and appear in countless unauthorized tacky remixes.
Unless you want to be exposed to the indignity of a high-energy dance version of In The Ghetto somewhere down the line, you ought to be careful what you wish for! :supriced::lol:
