Dear EAP: As I understand it, they shot a sequence in the raquetball-buliding with Johnny Harra. And also, as I understand it, they filmed Johnny Harra in Elvis bed in his actual bedroom. Several pictures where taken, but only a few (as those yoy posted) has been published. There is definetly more material in the archives, but you EPE: They give you a little bit, and save the rest for later. But maybe in the next version of This Is Elvis. Best regards, Martin.

Other than what ElvisTCb said up above, sometimes the actors are just hanging around the set waiting to be called and they pictures of them. Sometimes they set up BS pics to promote the movie. The above one looks like it would have been one of the scenes.
Would be nice get out takes of that.
They also claimed they used 4 actors to play Elvis, I only noticed 3.

There were four.
Paul Boensch III - Elvis at 10
David Scott - Elvis at 18
Dana MacKay - Elvis at 35
Johnny Harra - Elvis at 42
Scott and MacKay have since passed away.

Ral Donner, who did the narration, is also dead.
Oh, and so is Elvis too! ;)

David Scott committed suicide in the early 90s.
Dana McKay and his girlfriend Mary Huffman were found dead in Las Vegas in 1993. They were tied up and shot mob-style. (See pic). the murders are still unsolved.
There were rumours that Boensch was killed in a car wreck, but he is still alive.

I have a question too about this movie
...something that has bothered me for some time now; when "Elvis" goes on to check on "Lisa Marie" in her bedroom, there is an open door to the left of her bedroom, and inside seems to be a room - however on the floor plan this is supposed to be where the stairway to the attic is -- and the walls upstairs seem to be more "rounded" than on the floor plan.
That leads me to belive that the upstair sequence was filmed in a studio - not upstairs at Graceland

Not sure about the room, but the Graceland sequences were all filmed on location at the mansion. Nothing was recreated in a studio.
If anything, I'd suggest the floor plan you saw may be inaccurate.

That's just the thing, the ones that I have seem pretty realistic; but I have no sources that say they are the real ones, nor do I have sources that claim otherwise.
http://elvis-aron-presley.nl/downloads/graceland/floorp3.jpg - this is the only one that seem to have the stairs to the attic at another place; on other floor plans that I've seen the unmarked tiny room is where the stairway to the attic is said to be
I'll just perhaps email Graceland and see what they say - they should at least have plenty of articles about the movie in their archives ;)

Dear JTH and others: The explanation to the missing door between Lisa room and the dressing room is simple: The floorplans of upstairs available on the web are wrong, and are not official drawings of the building. Why can I be sure? Because we know, that This Is Elvis was actually filmed upstairs at Graceland. The door to the attic is the one you see when stepping up from the stairs (right to the double doors to the office). Its nice to hear, that others than me used their eyes. Here is my floorplan of the. I consider it to 99,9% reliable. Best regards, Martin

For some reason I never really thought much of "This Is Elvis".....especially not the use of actors playing him...it kind of ruined it for me.

Sorry, but I want a source. And this plan is basically the one that I posted with my post above ;)

And this is supposed to prove....?
As you must see, the room is no where on the drawing - and what someone thinks or suspects is not good enough, thus the claim for sources in most posts, as you propably are aware of yourself

Not a thing, if you don't want it to.
It's just where he talked about all that.

I'm a member of a very small JH site. They just keep me updated. IF I had the link, I'd give it to you . I just let them send me the up dates.
Last I knew , JH had just came out of the hospital with some problems from his diabetis. He was planning on going to Memphis for the 30rth, but just couldn't make it. Heard nothing since then.

Dear JTH: If you compare the floorplan you posted, and the one I posted, you will find an imortant differende: The door between Lisas room and the dressing room shows, that it is not an official floorplan, because: the door does not exist! Look at the intro at This Is Elvis. There is no door. Its no proof, but its very close...

In the floorplan you posted, there is no door - true; it's just a wall it seems. In the movie "This Is Elvis" a room, quite a large one, can be seen.
So far, from what I gather, you belive that the movie was indeed filmed upstairs, but you also belive the floorplan that you posted - and that is in direct contrast in one another.
So, for me, I belive the floorplans that show the staircase between the dressing room and Lisa Marie's room ...at least for now.
I've just send EPE an email and I hope to get an answer

Dear JTH: Its up to you. If you believe that the upstairs sequence was a setup, my version of the floorplan could be wrong. If you believe, that This Is Elvis was filmed upstairs, you have found what you are looking for. Best regards, Martin

I have more pics of Johnny Hara upstairs as well as Joe Esposito...:D
Vernon did in fact grant permission for the filming of this movie upstairs in Elvis private quarters...THE ONE AND ONLY TIME CAMERA'S ever allowed up there, and that was also the selling feature when the movie hit theaters out of the country.
I've posted some pics in gallery.
I have also ordered Jeanne Lamay's book, the special editon w/color photos of the upstairs, I will post if anyone is interested, as soon as it arrives, they will also be fouond on my website and forum.:)
Thank you Getlo for your always informative posts, once again I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! :D
