The show in Food Network, "Dinner Impossible" will be cooking at Graceland with Priscilla as host.

Not sure if you've ever heard of this show, but basically the chef is given assignments, which most are near impossible, and he is expected to cook at a moment's notice for whatever his assignment is.

The one at Graceland has him cooking for Elvis fans and Priscilla is hostess of course.

It airs this Wednesday night at 10pm (Eastern Time, USA) check your local listings if you get Food Network. I ran across it by accident while surfing through Food Network, I love that channel!

Wanted to let you all know.....wish I was one of the Elvis fans he is cooking for! :'(

She probably won't Diane, she'll ask him to make something like that. I am reading Nancy Rooks, "Inside Graceland" and she says Elvis loved regular southern style food - so really he can cook anything southern, and it would be something Elvis liked. She mentioned specifically - fried chicken/meat loaf/gravy, etc. So we'll see.....

I'll be watching and I saw on the foodnetwork .com that it will not be fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches but the Southern food that was often served at Graceland.
I to wish it were Lisa there, it's way past time Pris stopped being involved.
Lisa doesn't have anyone else to do this other then Pris..

They were doing ok, until they got to the Catfish. Everything I ever heard from any of the people that knew and lived with him including the cooks and Maids was Elvis Hated fish, and wouldn't allow it to be cooked at Graceland because he couldn't stand the smell. I am pretty sure that was mentioned a few times in Inside Graceland by Nancy Rooks.

you are absolutely right....Elvis hated fish, and the smell of it. He would not allow fish to be cooked while he was home. They did it while he was away, and had to air out the house days before they expected him. I recorded the show last night, but have not watched it yet.

She didn't , but the cook that runs the show, threw it in there. Priscilla asked for pork chops specifically , and other "southern dishes". He and the other cooks came up with the fish on their own. They did the banana pudding thing though.

Are you actually saying that it's a myth that Elvis ate junk food?

Getlo: I listened to this several times and this is what "I heard" Priscilla say to Chef Robert Irvine: "Your challenge is to break the myth that Elvis ate junk food and peanut butter and banana sandwiches". If you want to get technical about it, she should have said "break the myth that Elvis only ate............................"

It was at EP Delta Kitchen and Priscilla was the hostess. Priscilla did send Jennifer Chandler, southern food expert, to help Chef Robert since he is from South England. The way he made banana pudding is not the way southeners prepare it. He dumped everything together in a big "vat" and mixed it up with his hands. Jennifer told him that the vanilla wafers were supposed to be used as decoration around the pudding. It looked very dry. Priscilla tasted the banana pudding and said "Oh my God, its unbelievable".

When the show first started, Priscilla was telling Chef Robert that she used to bring Elvis' food to the table on a plate and even cut up his meat. She said he loved being "babied". That was sort of contradictory because she also said everything was served family style in platters.

It's also very good done on top of the stove in a skillet. Spray your pan with Pam..let it get really hot and then put your fillets in the skillet. Season it with whatever you are in the mood for....cajun spices, lemon pepper,etc...... Also..it's low calorie and low fat that way :D:D

I would hope that's the case, and that she meant to say "only" junk food. There's no way she or EPE could gloss over the fact that Elvis thrived on it, especially in the final years. He was consuming hundreds of thousands of calories a day by the end. Forget the drugs, I'm surprised his heart didn't give out much earlier with all the crap he was eating.

Did he really love fried peanut butter/banana sandwiches? Or is that just another urban Elvis legend?

That's no myth; it was one of the King's favourite snacks. I don't like peanut butter, so the idea of it is even more disgusting to me.

Even at the end, though, Elvis still liked a full plate of vegetables with most meals.

Elvis also had decades of being on stage in front of an audience - and he still had stage fright; so Priscilla could very well be nervous in front of the camera; the interview footages with her that I've seen seem to indicate nervousness, as she's propably aware of Elvis fans that are never satisfied.

By the way, what is with the Priscilla bashing now - and before that was the Memphis Mafia bashing. Hopefully the words "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" still has some meaning here ....

P31 I've zero idea what it is your talking about, but like you said it doesn't matter. lol

Well she didn't look so nervous on Good Morning America, or hey lets go back to the 70's and 80's, handled herself perfectly well, on Donahue, Rona Barrett, GMA from Dallas, ET, the list is endless, now all of a sudden she is showing nervousness? I don't buy it.
And no bashing just stating an opinion on a woman who I used to admire, who tarnished her own image. Who can't keep a story or an acct. straight and who after YEARS of crying about how tough she had it as Elvis wife, then carrying his name (which she could have dropped at any time and did so briefly after her divorce as she was not allowed to use it in business ventures) and wanting to do her own thing, has she entrenched herself back @ Graceland and the Elvis world?

I think Priscilla is more conscious now of how she looks, probably what they say on tv about her plastic surgery and also about how fans feel about her being in the spotlight and I think that is the main reason for her being nervous. I saw her being nervous during her interview with Larry King at Graceland also.....the fiddling with her hair.....in the way she talked, etc. (atleast to me it was nervousness, maybe to someone else it could be something different) I'm not a Pris lover....nor hater.....just my view on this.

I've got to agree with this .Thought everyone knew Elvis had stage fright bad.
We just have different ways of showing how uncomfortable we are in front of a huge audience.

I too, would like all of the bickering, putting others down, etc. to stop,
instead of going on and on.
I don't hate Priscilla or the MM. Seems pretty silly, since none of us know any of them nor why they made the decisions they did. :hmm:

Lisa for her own reason's doesn't want to do this, that is fine, choose a spokesperson, they have a very good one at Graceland, let him take over the duties on behalf of Lisa.:D
