Here is a few from Mntgomery, Aabama march 6, 1974.
This is not the same suit as in Aloha. The Aloha version was only used during Aloha and his Jan/Feb. 1973 engagement in Las Vegas. When Elvis went on tour they made a second version of the suit because Elvis gained some extra pounds.

Leroy, On the two suits, I know there are some very subtile differences, particularly the blue stones. If my observations are correct, the second (later) suit incorporated opaque blue stones in the chest and back eagles. Do you concur?

I don't know if i remember correctly, but i think i've seen a second cape for the Aloha jumpsuit.:hmm: I think it was a cape, that was originally designed for Aloha suit and it was way longer (and heavier) than the one Elvis used for the satellite show... does anyone have any pictures of that cape?
Jouni
You're right Jouni. That was the very first cape made for this suit. But it was too long and too heavy. The story goes that Joe called I.C. Costumes to tell them Elvis was lying flat on his back because of the weight.
I do have a picture somewhere. Let me look.....

Wow! I had seen the pic on the right, but not the one on the left. Though I knew it was a full-length cape, seeing it on the suit like that really gives some perspective. That would have been pretty wild to see him in that...if he could have gotten around in it.
Is the true weight of that cape known by anyone here? I've heard that certain capes weighed so much, and I am sure that they were quite heavy. But I find it hard to believe they would have made this one unbearably heavy and not figured that out until after they were finished. Or perhaps they weren't that heavy but somewhat restrictive and not really conducive to typical Elvis stage movements.
?
Leroy

The point is that after they attached this cape his collar was somewhere up his ***. He couldn't wear the suit in a normal way.

I have a little update on the "Aloha Bald Headed Eagle". An invoice, dated January 17th, 1973, reveals that Elvis received two identical jumpsuits. That sets the total on three. Two identical versions for the Aloha Special and the upcoming Las Vegas season plus one (larger)version for going on tour in April. That last version must have been a rush order because of Elvis increased weight.

Two identical versions for the Aloha Special and the upcoming Las Vegas season plus one (larger)version for going on tour in April. That last version must have been a rush order because of Elvis increased weight.
It makes you wonder that if there were three versions is there more dates for when this Jumpsuits was worn?
1973
January 12, 1973 (8:30 pm). Honolulu, HA.
January 14, 1973 (0:30 am). Honolulu, HA
April 28, 1973. (8:00 pm). Spokane, WA..
April 30, 1973. (8:00 pm). Denver, CO.
June 20, 1973 (8:30 pm). Mobile, AL.
June 27, 1973 (8:30 pm). Cincinnati, OH.
July 2, 1973 (8:30 pm) Oklahoma City, OK.
1974
March 6, 1974. (8:30 pm) Montgomery, AL.
March 12, 1974 (8:30 pm) Richmond, VA.
March 14, 1974 (8:30 pm) Murfreesboro, TN.
March 16, 1974 (2:30 pm) Memphis, TN.
The reason for the third Jumpsuit would be becaue Elvis had put on weight In 1974, but given that reason why order another duplicate when in total the dates for 1974 show that he wore it only 4 times! It must have been a design he liked because the American Eagle Jumpsuit made it's entrance In May 1974 which to me is a similar style and theme.

I think the third (larger) one was needed in 1973. In April he'd already put on weight. In some pictures it's showing, in others it don't. The one he wore in 1974 is definately the third version. At least that was what Butch told me. But I never counted on the invoice to come up. I saw it a couple of days ago and I'm still searching my machine so I can post it.

Both suits were Identicle apart from the stone coloration! there is one displayed in Las Vegas and the one displayed in Graceland, it would be great to be able to compare both to see any differences?
By the way Stefan the picture you have posted are fantastic in detail, did you take these your self?

The one that is/was on display in Las Vegas is the real "Aloha" suit...the other one that is displayed at Graceland is the third "Aloha" suit....I can't understand why Graceland/EPE won't display the actual "Aloha" suit whatsoever and try to pass off the third suit as being the actual suit....

What about the Aloha belt which was thrown into the crowd at the end of the concert, was that returned to EPE and is that the belt which is displayed in Las Vegas?

Yes, the cape is the real one but it's not owned by Graceland. The original owner, Bruce Spinks, gave it on loan.....

Actually, the late Andrew Kearn bought it from Mr. Spinks and, upon Andrew's passing his (Andrew's) family donated the cape to Graceland.

You're right. In fact there is no version with blue flares. And seeing this "tour list" of Billy Bud some other things I notice. According to him the first Aloha Show was on March 12th, 1973 and the second one on March 14, 1974. (?)
And I could go on with his list but since it is an old post I better not....
The reason why the lining of the cape and the color of the flares are different is because of the red, white, blue pattern. The American colors.

The suit that Elvis has on in these photos is the larger 'third' suit which was made in the latter part of '73 due to Elvis's weight gain. The last time he wore the actual 1/14/73 "Aloha From Hawaii" suit was during his February, 1973 engagement in Las Vegas, NV.

Again we agree Leroy. The third suit of '74 was quite different. Again, have a good look at the tailoring techniques. The collar is completely different on this suit and is more similar to the collars on other suits from '74 like the King of Spades, Blue Target and Sunburst.

The reason for the two suits is one was for the rehearsal show and the up coming tour in which was made a liitle bigger as elvis lost wieght for the show and knew he would gain it back the weight loss was for show purpose only, and a smaller version made for the TV show in which made him look even more fit on tv being smaller and tighter as tv tends to add weight anyway because tv is 2 dimensoinal and flat. the reason the studs on the 2 look different ( small are gold and the bigger looks silver) as far as the gold studs is, the small was worn the one time for TV and the bigger takin and worn and sweated on ect.. which anyone knows by owning a jumpsuit and sweating and washing turns gold studs to tarnish and appear silver over time and in pictures.

Here it is........
This is a reply about the invoice
This prooves only 2 suits were made and only two suits were on display. the first suit with long cape ( which we know he used the waist cape instead ). and the second for rehearshal show. he wore the same cape with the gold balls on it for both shows. a second waist cape ( with more blue stones on bottom ) was made for the rehearshal suit for the tour. that's 2 suits and 3 capes ( long cape, tv show, and tour). and 3 belts, As for the belts we know he gave one away before the show and just used the one belt for both aloha shows which he tossed in the audience . a second belt was made for the tour/ rehearshal suit with the 6 red stones on front.
One thing i have heard and also just found on youtube a video of john wilkinson ( elvis rhythm guitarist) saying Elvis payed $140,000 for the aloha suit ? the invoice shows $5000 for both so that is maybe something Elvis joked about, or the band members just didn't have the right info as we do now with the invoice. OR which may be true he might have paid 140,000 for the big horseshoe ring he wore and the story got mixed up.

i deleted a previous post commenting on the stars being upside down on the second aloha belt. by no means was it to offend anyone if you had read it and i deeply apologize if it did.
