The concert was on Saturday, March 25, 1961 at 8.30pm at the Bloch Arena in Pearl Harbor. It was to raise money to begin the memorial to those who lost their lives on the USS Arizona on December 7, 1941.

RCA released this in 1980 on the silver box set, Elvis Aron Presley. There is a great bootleg LP available of it as well, called Elvis 1961 Hawaii Benefit Show (pic attached) and it is excellent. Includes a huge booklet about the show, and plenty of pics. Picture credit: elvisspecialties.com

Plenty of candid footage available of his arrival, departure etc in Hawaii.

Songs were:

1 - Heartbreak Hotel
2 - All Shook Up
3 - A Fool Such As I
4 - I Got A Woman
5 - Love Me
6 - Such A Night
7 - Reconsider Baby
8 - I Need Your Love Tonight
9 - That's Allright
10 - Don't Be Cruel
11 - One Night
12 - Are You Lonesome Tonight?
13 - It's Now Or Never
14 - Swing Down, Sweet Chariot
15 - Hound Dog

I don't think so, no.

There is that famous B&W footage of him in the gold lame jacket and black pants (which is what he wore for that show) with the RCA Victor dog on stage with him. I was watching it a few weeks ago, and I seem to recall someone saying it was from Hawaii '61, but I can't remember at this stage.

Perhaps someone else can answer this properly ... ?

The footage that you are talking about is of him in Memphis in 1957. If you remember there was a banner behind him that tells about Jailhouse Rock. Watch Tupelo's Own and it shows that footage.

Yeah, yeah, that's the one I was watching! Good work. I remember thinking at the time that it was nice to know where the footage finally came from.

Don't know why I was confusing it with Hawaii '61 ... maybe the outfit.

Thanks.

The sound quality isn't perfect, and the version included on the silver box set has a few bits of dialogue etc missing. And the box set sound is only marginally better than the bootleg LP release.

The bootleg LP I posted above is one of the best Elvis bootlegs ever.

But get the silver box set on CD; that will be the easiest way for you to get this show.

A small portion of this show can be found on the import cd "Fever Pitch".

The LP and new CD version of this show was released on a box set from the 80s, I think called, ELVIS ARON PRESLEY. It was just a gray background with his signature on written across it in white. The LP was 8 LP set and the CD I think had 4 CDs.

If you have difficulties finding the boxset, it shouldn't be that hard to find a copy of the "Elvis In Person" '61 concert on cd..original it may be, but not a cdr.
