On Elvis's life?? I thought about that. I'm really torn on this. While I think his mother had a big influence on his early years, I think his father did later.

I agree on his early years - his mom for sure. His later years? I don't think it was his dad so much, but not sure who it would have been. Who did Elvis look up to? I think everyone looked up to him actually. Maybe his spiritual advisor? Would that be Larry Gellar? I'm just not sure of the answer to this.

Yes his mother had a big influence,
But when you see his entire life, i think the Colonel showed the way, good or bad...he was a big part of E's Life

Interesting. I am still going to stick with Vernon because later I just think Vernon never wanted to be poor again and Elvis didn't want him to be either. Therefore the Col. could never have done what he did. Inside Graceland Vernon had a lot of control too.

Well, I think it was his mother who had the biggest influence for sure. When he grow up, he bacame the greatest entertainer, he was the one who others looked up to, so I also wondered who was that person for him...

I would have to go with the majority of the people on this thread and say his mother.

Seriously, his mother. She spoiled him rotten, brought him to church, made sure he graduated high school. Both his parents were musically inclined, and according to some writers, Gladys not only had a great voice, she had rhythm! The Blackwood Brothers, too.
Perhaps the preacher in the Baptist Church, can't think of the fellow's name.
