From April 30th 1976 to May 9th 1976 tour number 3 of '76 Elvis held an engagement at Lake Tahoe. Last Night I was going through a bunch of my cds and came across several of these.

After listening to these shows, or serveral from this engagement I realized that these shows get so overlooked when it comes to 1976. Usually when you think of good concerts from '76 all that gets mentioned is the December tour, and March.

The setlist were really varied, even found one show that Elvis sang 'it's Midnight"..that was like finding gold to me, getting to hear that song in '76..a really awesome treat imo. This engagement also had the longest show Elvis ever performed at just over two hours on Mother's Day May 10th 1976 10 p.m. So if you have the oppurtunity to get some of these cds I would suggest it..All are audience recordings i'm pretty sure, but they almost all have very listenable sound.

What's your opinion of these shows?

I don't know how they sounds, but if I listen to you I think you know what you're talking about,so I believe every word you say...
It's always nice to listen to a variable concert list, and it's shows you when Elvis feels good he really gave everything, and tried to make fun...what you said,he performed more than 2 hours!!!!that's really much for an Elvis concert.
I really believe you about It's Midnight...I love that song and I hope I will get this rare song in '76 to hear soon.

You can find the performance of "It's Midnight" on The Concert Years Vol. 88. It's The May 7th '76 Dinner Show;).

I'm Currently playing the April 25th '76 ES in Long Beach, Cali. Really upbeat show with alot of great songs like Burning Love, Help Me, How Great Thou Art, Trying To Get To You. After "It's Now Or Never" Elvis introduces the rock band "The Eagles" to the audience..

Really cool show(y).

Maybe it is just my own viewpoint on this, didn't Elvis seem looser during most of his Tahoe engagements, more relaxed if you will?

I AGREE JAK!!! (y)(y)

Something that gets overlooked also is that last Las Vegas Engagement from December 1976. Even the shows after Elvis hurt his ankle, some were really good. Just get the boot cd Farewell From Vegas, the Dec.12th performance. That show kicks butt.

No.

If anything, it was a one-liner at best.

he varies quite a lot in performance this season, but apart from a few poorer shows most are long and entertaining shows with few rarer songs.

I believe The Bass Player in intro's played Delieh and Elvis sang about 1/4 to 1/2 of it see if I can find bootleg of it. Now he did sing Bo Diddy all the way threw in December but ever heard thta recording.

Great show also is Closing Christmas show in 1975...Other great show suprise no one said it his Last Memphis concert on July 5, 1976...

Love to all,
Tim Dudley

That is great to hear my friend..I also have every show from that engagement and really enjoy them all(y). Very entertaining concerts, and its great to hear some rare songs here and there.;)

Elvis' voice was strong as ever imo, and its sad that when looking at 1976 concert wise, these shows never get the credit they deserve imo.

I'm with you all the way on this one dudcowboy!!!(y)(y)

I love them December '75 Vegas shows..one of my favorite engagements, and another that don't get the credit it deserves imo. All the shows I've heard from that engagement were really good concerts with Elvis in very strong voice!!!:notworthy:notworthy Just pick up the release by Fort Baxter "Just Pretend" or FTD's "Dinner At Eight" if you don't believe me ;)

Yes, and the last show in Memphis July, 5th is superb too. I love that release, the sound is tremendous and a solid show for sure..I love fairytale, it's my favorite live version of the song!!!(y)(y)(y)

these tahoe shows are all audience recorded and some are ok listenable and others are downright terrible[audio wise] if anything ELVIS seemed to be more relaxed and in somewhat better shape at leat vocally, my fave is the show on may/2nd , he was in real good spirits and put on a great show, the best version of my way, and a great and inspiring versions of hurt- just love the phrasing - even though you hurt me..... a total pleasure to listen to , i sure would love to hear a soundboard of this performance.

I honestly cannot understand how ANYONE could be 'enjoying' Elvis's terrible/sad show on 3rd May 1976.Talk about 'out of it' and sad dreadful show and certainly WORST show of that entire season.

I can't recall this show Geoff.

Will give it a listen tonight and see if I can see where you are coming from.
