There was a thread the other day about why RCA doesn't release a new live album. So I got to thinking about a live project that would work. For a while now I have been hoping for a live box set in the form of Live In Las Vegas but done with 4 complete shows instead of just 2. So here is my idea for what I feel would be a hit box set to the fans and those who like his live shows. All of these shows are unreleased for those wondering. I selected the stereo mixes of the best of the rest from the RCA vaults.

Now 4 reasons why I selected these particular shows.

1)The Las Vegas show on August 12 was the best of the rest and much of it used for the documentary. Becasue of only 16 songs (tracks) I also selected 3rare live numbers from the August shows not filmed or recorded by RCA that have appeared on bootlegs to fill up space.

2)Hampton Roads is obvious as it is the best show ever captured live by RCA. Still a shock that after 35 years it has yet to see the day of light by RCA.

3)The dress rehearsal of the Aloha show was released by RCA in 1988 but it was overdubbed by computers and drowned out EP's vocals in some places. It has yet to be released in its original form and entirety by RCA. The only performances released by RCA have been Steamroller Blues and An American Trilogy. Everything else remains unreleased.

4)The Rapid City show was by far more entertaining and energetic than the Omaha show was just 2 days earlier. The Rapid City show wasn't the best he gave but it was a good vocal performance compared to most in 1977. And it was the last show recorded professionally by RCA in his life. So it has some sentimental value to it.

SONY BMG really needs to rethink their project ideas. This is in my personal opinion a win-win situation and would be a long term success on the main stream.

It would be great! It features most of the classics...I would love to own something like that. Why don't you send a mail to RCA, who knows, they'll give you a job maybe? :P
