View Full Version : Elvis or Sight-seeing
Elvis 1972

It's 1972 and you are having a seven days holiday in Las Vegas. You have already booked to see Elvis at the Hilton for three shows. After getting things sorted out at your hotel, you then rush down to the Hilton to confirm your bookings.
Everything is OK, then you discover that you can see extra shows making it a total of fifteen Elvis concerts over the seven days, and that includes an extra concert which he gives.
Now the question is, would you see Elvis in concert twice a night (plus one extra show) for a week or would you rather see three shows and go sight-seeing and shopping and maybe do some gambling?

I would not see the extra concert and I will not go sight seeing. But I would go to find Elvis backstage, outdoors or in the Hotel.

Waiting in line for hours, going back to your hotel at about 3:00 in the morning, going to sleep about 5:00 (the excitement of seeing Elvis is still buzzing in your head and makes it difficult to sleep), and with the extra show you would be even later, about 6:00 would be about right. Just think, three shows in one day, about three hours of Elvis!
Just a few hours sleep and then it's up again to start all over and it's back to the Hilton, and you do that for seven days!

Danny, would you miss the chance of probably seeing Elvis giving a Karate demonstration on stage, and there is no chance of finding Elvis backstage, security is too tight!

I was in Las Vegas for 3 Summer Festivals, trust me when I say all you want to do is see Elvis, talk Elvis, etc.....I never really enjoyed even leaving the Hilton while we were there. I think I thought I might miss something if I left for awhile.:D

Okay, must sign up for the entire package!(y) 15 shows. After all, it's Vegas in 72. Desert, showgirls & nickel slots? NO, Thank you! Maybe between shows - if that's possible - I'd run to the casino & play one game of 21, just to say I saw the Pit. Big deal! If the friends ask what was Vegas like I can answer  "He's 6 foot tall, more handsome than a Greek God, sings like a choir of angels & has a smile to die for!"
And just to prove my point, Oct 11, 1980, I was dating an Astros fan while attending the University of Houston. That afternoon, the Astros were playing the Phillies for the Pennant - extra innings. Lots of extra innings. Astros did win, and we left the Astrodome only to return a little later for the 11pm for a UofHouston versus Texas A&M game. The tshirts were sold "The only 2day football game of the Century!" Compared to 10 hours of my day at the Astrodome, 15 Elvis Shows in a week would be a piece of chocolate cake! Rita, do you think the Col. would have made up special t-shirts for us fans who saw every show?

I survive on an average of 3 to 4 hours sleep a night anyway, so I'd manage to see Elvis, some other shows, gamble, various day trips etc.

Elvis or the Hoover Dam? ELVIS
Elvis or the Bellagio Fountains? The bellagio around in '72? if they were, i'd snap a photo of the fountains as i go in to see ELVIS, but just one, need to save all my camera shots for ELVIS, and like someone mentioned, need my shopping money to tip the ushers/waiters/anyone who could get me close to ELVIS
