Yes, I like them.

I wonder if Elvis liked them, or if just had to keep up with the fashion :hmm:

He had to dye them, so I guess there must have been an element of liking, otherwise you just wouldn't go to all that trouble?

On the other hand Elvis had already established this look and kept it because it was a sort of trade mark, as with the glasses he wore. The book "Elvis by the Presley's" has a picture of Elvis' reading glasses on the front, I guess he didn't wear the aviator style glasses at home all the time?

The comment "The Image is One Thing The Human Being Is Another" springs to mind :hmm:

Yes, I was thinking of your comment too, re the image.

I vote that they were fashionable only, lol. Probably wrong, but boy, they did look very nice (y)

not in the 70's it didnt look good...well maybe 70/71 - but he grew his hair longer and he should have gotten rid of the sideburns - but - they were his trademark and that is probably why he kept them.....he was a very handsome dude!

I preferred the way he had his sideburns in '69 thru 71. I didn't mind his hair longer except I felt it was too bushy at the Madison conference. The sideburns seemed to have gotten too long from there on. The only way I really disliked his hair was that short time it looked like he had bangs - that didn't suit him at all.

I think he was proud of them. It was something he made popular in 50's and had to probably be a part of again. Jerry was quoted as saying, "he hated the short hair and no sideburns look he had for his movies". Although I read somewhere else that in 1958 he was looking forward to getting that buzz cut in the ARMY. I think he just like to experiment with his looks. Look at how many times the shape and size of sideburns changed in the 70's.

69-71 His sideburns and hair were perfect. Thin high cheekbones with the sideburns- very strong and masculine look.

Oh my....another thread about Elvis' looks, and ya'll know that it makes me say things that I shouldn't say.... :lmfao:

Sideburns....well, I don't have a problem with them. Don't really have an opinion either way. I gotta admit, when I look at Elvis, it ain't his sideburns I'm focusing on! :supriced: ;)

LOL, I agree, they were sexy as all get out, weren't they? I actually liked Elvis' hair and sideburns better in 1970 than in 1977. I liked them when you could still see a little bit of ear, but I would take him either way!!!

The sideburns made E look a lot older to me. And for most of the 70`s his hair did`nt look that good, what was going on with the MSG press conference hair do, and the On Tour hair?....terrible.

Ahh...the "Moe Howard" period of the hair....absolutely hideous, IMO!!

Does anybody know who styled his hair for that particular period? Larry Geller didn't worm his way back into the group (how did he get by the Colonel?) until sometime in '76.

His sideburns imo always looked cool. I really liked them in Late December '76 and into the beginning of 1977. But theirs not a time that I didn't like them;).

The sideburns in 1968 looked pretty cool, shorter than in the 70's

Yup Matt, those sideburns look good. I just like his hair a little bit fuller on the sides and the front pulled down as in my avatar. I didn't like the combed back style in most of the movies...not natural looking.

Yes, I love him in side burns. Just not the way he had them in the last few years . Too long, big and bushy, IMO.

The difference is really remarkable! For me he looks much better in Jan '69 and I prefer the short and not bushy sideburns and hair, the more natural look like Diane said. :D

Matt, your first picture in '69, the sideburns are perfect in my mind and the hair is full and natural looking.....great picture.

The second picture in '69 is good but he's gained weight in the face so his features don't stand out as well. He's the only person I've ever known of who could change so much in just a matter of months. Still very handsome but changed with the weight going up and down....bad sign of health problems for sure.

Not trying to start an argument here, I was under the impression this pic was from early '71. His hair seems a little too long for late 69...still a great picture no matter when it was taken..(y)
