I have just recently bought the book "Elvis Jumpsuits All Access". It is based on the Exhibition at Graceland, it is a very interesting but inaccurate read. There are many errors in this book which is very surprising considering who had commissioned the book! It would have benefited from better research and of course the designers input not least to get the dates and names of the jumpsuits correct.

The book relies heavily on the "Fan given names" rather than the designer names and some of the dates...... well even an amateur would have had a better guess.

A missed opportunity thats for sure!!!!!

Anyway I have made some wallpapers based on the book design, hope you like them.

I have to disagree partially here, and go with the fan names, which have been perfectly servicable lo these many years.

But as to the book ... yes, many inaccuracies. I would also have preferred it to be in chronological order. Many suits were missed.

And I think it was a bit overpriced ($US15 I think, earlier this year at Graceland) considering it really is a thin book.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one for sure.... whilst I will agree there are semantics around some of the names as they principally skirk around the same name e.g. "Black Butteryfly" & "Black Pyramid" but with other names it is way off the mark e.g. "Gypsy" is called "Eskimo Totem Pole" (name provided by Gene Doucette), they are two completely different cultures.

I have no problem people calling them by the fan given name, but the reality is, that it is incorrect, EPE are perpetuating the myth, if they can't get it right then something is very wrong! They had the opportunity to use this book to educate, they chose to perpetuate (n)

From my personal experience when I am told a correct name then I will use the correct name, it is ok to use nick names or an aka for instance, but I just don't see the value of misinformation?

Thank you Matt, for the wonderful wallpapers! (y)

I also agree with going with the designers names. It's a shame the book wasn't done in the correct way.

That's a heck of a good thought Rover has there JJ. You and Leroy could put out the most fantastic (and accurate) jumpsuit book of all - I'd buy it in a second!

The wallpaper I like the best of your new ones above is of the Black Butterfly - it stands out almost 3D.(y)(y)

Clearly I am a little late in responding to this post for various reasons...

But I have to agree that EPE should have commissioned YOU to do the book for the jumpsuit exhibit J.J.! Although I have actually only gotten around to ordering my copy of the book today (FINALLY!), I am a little disillusioned (although not surprised) that the book contains so many inaccurate facts! You would think that the people who have been assembled to supposedly be the utmost authority on Elvis would actually be able to support that distinction...but alas this is EPE we're talking about... :'(

Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with the photos in the book and not the information...

AWESOME WALLPAPERS MY FRIEND!!! (y)

I currently have the embroidered American Eagle suit set as my computer background!!! :)

Since I haven't received my copy of the book yet, I don't know what other jumpsuits are featured in the book....but I see that you created a side view wallpaper of the Rainbow suit. Is there any chance you could put together a frontal view wallpaper of that suit? :hmm: Also, did the book have photos of the Peacock suit? That would be an awesome wallpaper too, if you have a chance to do it! :notworthy

THANKS A MILLION AGAIN MATT!! I truly appreciate your hard work my friend!!!

Thanks so much for posting this thread and the wallpapers included Jumpsuit Junkie :!: (y)

I have a question:

I have contemplating on purchasing this book, as I am a big fan of the Jumpsuit Elvis era, and In your opinion, is this book commissioned by EPE worth purchasing and owning ?

I know of 2 Elvis fans that were completely disappointed in what they recieved, but It does look tempting ...

Your thoughts and/or opinion would be great appreciated. Thanks.

How could someone think the wrong information is ok? I have to go with jumpsuit Junkie on this one.
I'm not surprised as to it not being accurate. EPE always gets information wrong. I've come across some CD cover with wrong info on dates and photos of Elvis in 68 that they would put 1957 on it. I once saw a 1961 blond Elvis, Follow That Dream photo stated as a 1954 Sun Records by them.

I'm not much into the jumpsuit's myself, but it is a shame that the information is incorrect. :(

A sad state of affairs isn't it TCBnAflash...to think that the company that is supposed to represent their namesake can't even get it right! :'(

Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with the beautiful pictures that the book contains.... (y)

Got my copy of the ELVIS JUMPSUITS ALL ACCESS book...while it certainly isn't anything that a fan can't live without, it is a nice book with some great up-close shots of some of the jumpsuits. (y)

As we've discussed here, some of the facts in the book are inaccurate but the pictures are very nice! I did notice that a couple of the more well-known jumpsuits were not included in the book, including the Sundial suit and the Peacock suit. :hmm:

One nice touch though was the inclusion of the never-worn unfinished jumpsuit from 1977!

Personally, I think it was worth the $15 although as I said, fans shouldn't go out of their way to pick this up. But if you have the extra money, it is a nice addition to any fan's collection! (y)
