I REALLY wish he would have recorded the Christmas song " Oh Holy Night"

Honestly, I can't believe he didn't. That song is such a powerful song he would have been perfect for it. I still hope they find it somewhere in some RCA workers basement. :):lol::lol:

Eric Cartman from South Park did the best version of this song. Not even Elvis would have bettered it!

Thought about this question many times....here`s a few I`d love to hear by Elvis:
House of the rising sun (preferably a late `60s version!)
The games people play (The Joe South song...)
Georgia on my mind
Seven Spanish Angels ( Check out the version by impersonator Doug Church on YouTube to give you an idea of what it might have been like...decent video.)

"Delta Lady"

There is a version of Delta Lady on James Burton's album The Guitar Sounds of James Burton (1971), featuring the TCB Band, and the Sweets. Very cool. It's the closest thing to a possible Elvis version you'd ever hear.

The non-Elvis tracks are:

Suzie-Q
Fire And Rain
I Know (You Don't Want Me No More)
Delta Lady
Rock And Raunch
Long Reach

You can hear snippets of the tracks here:

Elvis does sing a little bit of Walk the Line. Listen!

I would also love to hear I Will Always Love You. He almost recorded it, but Dolly stuck to her guns & wouldn't give it up for meager earnings.
Also love to hear Sharp Dressed Man, Beautiful Boy, or Tears in Heaven

Great song. (The title is actually written on Dean's gravestone).

Elvis did one line (the title) of this song during the opening and closing shows of the Jan-Feb '70 Vegas shows, when Dean was in the audience.

Rocknut,

I do mean Oh Holy Night..not Silent Night. Look it up on the internet..It's worth it and you will definately be able to hear Elvis singing it.

Cheers,

I think he could have recorded "Flesh and Blood" by Johnny Cash. Even though it was about Johnny's experiences with June, Elvis would have been able to understand and "crawl" into the poetical meaning of that song. He had the right voice to make the song "dance". Like "Sweet Caroline" or "The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" it would have sounded warm.

And err... I would have appreciated more German folk songs. After all, Germany does have a history and a lot of beautiful songs.

Only the Lonely is the first song that comes to mind. Too bad Elvis was asleep when Roy went up to to talk to Elvis about recording it.
