What was it like to be watching Elvis live perfromance?

I am a senior Elvis fan but sad to say never got the golden chance to watch Elvis live performance. There were rumors during the early days that he is coming to perform here in our country but unfortunately it didn't materialized.
I was saving and preparing for that special event that should have given me the chance to watch his electrifying performance. For you fortunate people who had the chance to watch him in person, can you describe how it feel?(y)

Wow, Ricardo, that's a hard question. I guess for me my initial reaction was to feel that the whole thing was unreal, that I couldn't really be there. The musical introduction leading up to Elvis coming on stage was just fantastic and unbelievably exciting and then he was there with that beautiful smile and the whole audience is dead quiet until he started to sing.

He would run you through a series of a few ballads, a few rockers until your emotions were going back and forth so much that by the time you left the concert you felt exhausted...at least I did.

To me it finally felt good to have seen him in person at last and feel like I was relating to a flesh and blood Elvis not just pictures and movies.

your so lucky diane...i wish i could of been there to experience elvis in person... i get so emotional just watching him in concert i cant imagine what i would of done to be there in the same room with him...truly a privilage!(y)

Diane you are indeed lucky and blessed one to have the chance to watch our man perform live. It is one of my fondest wishes that will never come true and it is a pity he left in a hurry and never gave me the chance to watch him perform live even just once. The way you described the feeling makes me more sorry and regretful. Thanks Diane for sharing your experience.

I saw him once 3-22-76 at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis.
I had wanted to see him in 1970-his second show of his first tour was St. Louis. I went aweek after it was announced and the tickets had been sold out since the day it was announced. I tried to go in 73 when he returned and missed that one also. In 76 we went the day it was announced and got tickets.
For 76 it was not a bad show, he did not slur words nor do anything odd as some shows in 76-77 seem to have had happen. He was not in constant motion but he did move. His voice was in great form. To be in the same building with him was an electric feeling-surreal is a good word. It was over way to quick.
I am lucky enough to have a VHS copy of an 8mm fan film someone shot from the front row. It shows about 30 minutes of the show and its very good picture compared to a lot of 8mm from other shows.
But I have a friend who went to all three of the St. Louis shows in 70-73-76
she told me the first show in 70 was the best as far as performing he was all over the stage and in constant motion-many standing ovations. She tells me as far as his singing 73 was the highlight he voice soared and was crystal clear. In 76 she says it was okay but not as good as the other 2 and if you had seen the other 2 you felt let down a tad.
But for me it was a wonderful moment.

you guys are so lucky! I know that if I ever had been able to see him perform, I'd be crying like a baby.....I just love him so much.....I can't even watch an ETA without crying - or listen to someone else singing his songs.....I know...I'm such a baby.....:'(

I went to see the Elvis The Concert on to ocassions, with elvis on the big screen and that was a fantastic experience so getting the chance to see him performe in person must have been electrifying!

I was lucky enough to see Elvis perform at 30 shows from Vegas '69 to Eugene '76................it was truly a fantastic experience...............I always loved seeing him in the showrooms the best in Vegas or Lake Tahoe..............it was more up close and personal.................when you were in the big arenas it wasn't quite the same (don't forget there weren't any big screens like there is now) - it was great to be there seeing Elvis with 18 -20 thousand people but I really liked it better in Vegas or Tahoe.......the sound was phenomenal in the showrooms.........the build up before he came on stage was like no other - everyone got so excited - you wondered what he'd be wearing and boom there he was...............oooooooh ahhhh those good old days!!!!! Boy do I miss Elvis and those wonderful times back then........
