Of course we all LOVE OUR MAN, BUT you know there is that ONE song that just makes your skin crawl when you hear it. I know I will get stoned by some but I can't stand Old Shep. Just can't listen to it(n)
So what is yours???

Hmmm....
You all can shoot me but I'm not fond of "Blue Moon" and "Harbor Lights"
And, yes, I don't like "Old MacDonald Had A Farm" from "Double Trouble"....I'm pretty sure that everybody will agree with me on that one as well...Elvis surely must have had to take some strong stuff the day he recorded that.
Isn't there a story that has made the rounds about Elvis ranting and raving about having to record "Ft. Lauderdale Chamber Of Commerce"...or was he just moaning and groaning 'bout having to film that particular scene?

For me there Two or Three I hate, the first one is "Love Me" All Versions, second is "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" and Third one is Studio Version Of "Love Me Tender", i love the 1968 version better.

There are many I dislike just because Elvis dodn't seem to put much effort in them:
Raised on Rock
For the Heart
Sylvia

I actually disagree with you on For the Heart rocknroll.
I think it was a good song.
Also, a good number for Elvis too try and get back into some boogie woogie, sliding bass, funky beat, country rock, I call it ...
Would have been great if Elvis had actually incorporated this track into his "Live" repetoire in '76 ...
The other songs you mention are spot on though ...
For the record, I think Elvis ROCKS "Old McDonald".(y)
I wholeheartedly agree ... (y)

Have you ever heard him sing, "King Of The Road"?? Horrible.......that would be my pick. and to our member "Elvis" who is a 21 yr old faithful fan and says if you are a fan then you like ALL his songs - you must not have heard them ALL....I know I haven't. There are some songs that are just plain silly - someone mentioned his movie songs - some of those were horrid - and he knew it.

I agree "hate" is a different thing from dislike. I am not sure if Elvis himself have the last word to the kind of songs his producer want him to sing. I really wonder why he wasted his time and talent singing some of those garbage songs unless it is dictated by whoever behind it. Does Elvis given the choice to pick the songs he want to record or was it the call of time. I believe he never enjoy doing songs like "Old Mc Donald" and those children songs. I hope we give our guy a break after all he is not perfect and vulnerable to commit mistakes. For me the song "Old Mc Donald" is a silly song for Elvis to sing. This just proves how Elvis became highly commercialized on the later years of his career.

It has never been mentioned in any Elvis session book, recording site, collectors site etc. Not even as speculation. In fact, this thread is the first mention of it I have seen.
What is the name of the CD or website that it is from?
If anyone can find a link, please post it here.
The song, however, is listed under Elvis' name on some lyric and word sites ... but this is entirely incorrect.
Here are the lyrics, just to ensure we're talking about the same song.
Trailers for sale or rent,
Rooms to let - 50 cents,
No phone, no pool, no pets,
Ain't got no cigarettes, ah but
Two hours of pushing broom
buys an 8 by 12 four-bit room
He's a man of means by no means
King of the road.
Third box car midnight train
Destination Bangor, Maine
Old worn-out suits and shoes,
Don't pay no union dues.
He smokes old stogies he has found
Short, but not too big around
He's a man of means by no means
King of the road
(He knows) Every engineer on every train
All of their children and all of their names
And every hang-out in every town
Every lock that ain't locked
When no one's around.
I say, Trailers for sale or rent,
Rooms to let - 50 cents,
No phone, no pool, no pets,
Ain't got no cigarettes.
I've got two hours of pushing broom

Yes. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember hearing a version done by a (not very good) impersonator, so maybe that's it?

Okay, something just flashed in my mind at the very second I woke up this morning. I now know why I can hear a bad "Elvis" version of the song in my head. Last year, here in Australia, Toyota had a TV ad campaign for their new truck, a Hilux I think. It featured a fat guy Elvis fan driving down a highway who picks up a really hot chick. He had one of those Elvis dolls dangling from the rear-view mirror. And playing is King of The Road, done Elvis style. Quite a good ad, actually. So maybe it was Church's version used for this?

yea, just so you know, I went on limewire again last night and just typed in "King of the road" and again it popped up with 1 Elvis version......it also had Roger Miller and others who sang it too.....so I don't understand why it lists it as Elvis? It does sound like him too. Regardless of you "nay-sayers" who think "how can you not know the difference"......so I'm more confused than ever. [QUOTE=Getlo;146639]It probably is. Considering the Queen song was written in 1980, it's a safe bet Elvis never did it.
Elvis did sang A crazy little thing called Love...i've heard this song
People, people, people.....Elvis did not sing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" (unless he really did fake his death) and he did not sing "King Of The Road". I downloaded that version and it ain't Elvis, not even close.
As mentioned before, Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written and recorded by Freddy Mercury (Queen) in 1980.

I do not care for Elvis impersonators myself either, but Doug Church is so close at times to Elvis its a little scary. I have never bought any of his stuff but have heard it. I have listened to Elvis's voice for over 45 years and Church does sound like Elvis. The first time I heard him I thought it was an Elvis christmas song that had never been released. I was in a store and it was playing on a CD player in the back room-I stuck my head in the back room and asked a girl who was sorting product where she got the new Elvis cd-she said its not Elvis its Doug Church her mom got it for her because she thought it sounded like Elvis also. I had never been fooled like that ever before this.

Jak I did not say he sounds exactly like Elvis-but he sounded enough like him to fool me after hearing him sing a few songs. Naturally he does not sound exactly like Elvis and I do not think he has any moves or chrisma which Elvis had -but compared to most Elvis impersonaltors he is head and shoulders above them in vocal reproduction- but of course not above Elvis.
I have listened to Elvis 45 years and no other "wanna be ' has fooled me-Alan Meyers, Harra, Thompson etc... I could here in an instant it was not Elvis. That is my biggest consistent complaint about these guys-they sound nothing like Elvis-this guy is the best-but he is not Elvis.
I met a a guy through my brother who was an AR man for Curb records and he played me a song which he claimed was Elvis and I told him "Thats Ronnie McDowell"- it was he thought he could fool me.
I'm sorry if my being momentarily fooled has upset you so. It surprised me also-but I'm not gonna lie about it.

That happens to be one of the songs I appreciate the most. This song was a hit when some angry guy with a mustache was really powerful here, but it's even older.
I also like "Padre" and "Take Good Care Of Her", these are way more meaningful than "Burning Love" or "Promised Land", for example - which means I don't hate those, but I just think these are not as meaningful and emotional.
Sometimes I get the impression people are resisting sensitivity. Do you dislike "Danny Boy"?
I know some people don't like "He Is My Everything" (gospel) or "Beach Boy Blues", but there's really no reason to look for a homo-erotic meaning. Elvis wasn't gay.

No pun intended, really. I did read some person doesn't like those songs and I can see why (it's America). But there's no use being ashamed of it, you're just looking for something that isn't there. Hysterical.
Anyway, I do like Elvis' rendition of children's songs. It's not that easy to get the most out of it, you have to "apply maximum sensitivity", so to say. It sounds better than an over-the-top rendition, e.g. I didn't like the studio version of "Rags To Riches" that much because it's.. a bit over-the-top.

There was a whole album of "Duets" -Jerry Lee and a mystery voice.
The single was "Save the Last Dance for Me" and when it was played the DJs all asked the question-"Who is the voice singing with Jerry Lee Lewis?"
They hinted that the "Duets" were recorded at Sun records in the 50s.
Except for the "Million Dollar Quartet" recordings which were an impromptu jam-Elvis never recorded at Sun again. Jerry Lee Lewis came to Sun records after Elvis had left to RCA. But many did not know all this and they thought it was Elvis singing with Jerry Lee.

In a lot of cases it seems that people actually dislike the most sensitive songs: "My Boy", "Love Me Tender", "Take Good Care Of Her", "Padre", "Wooden Heart"..
A lot of this has to do with social pressure. It's just so uncool to like "My Boy" in front of your colleagues/peers/friends nowadays.

ksimms2, I'm prepared to bet my entire Elvis collection on it not being him singing this song! :D
This is entertaining...:D:D....UPS or Fedex? :D

Ok, to those who say Elvis sang it ...
Wanna bet an Elvis CD???:lol::lol:
I'm serious here!
Remember: I only bet if I know I'm right about something, and I have never lost a bet of this type! (y)
I did read something about it once. It was like one of those "throw-away" lines in concert where he sang like a line or two. So...I think he threw out a couple of lines, but no, it was not a recorded song. Maybe ya'll should call it a draw..;) ;)

[QUOTE=Getlo;146639]It probably is. Considering the Queen song was written in 1980, it's a safe bet Elvis never did it.
Elvis did sang A crazy little thing called Love...i've heard this song
NO...NO...NO Elvis did NOT sing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". That song came out in the early 80's. Elvis IS talented, but not doing any recording from the grave!! LOL :D:D

Yeah, I'm not crazy about It's Impossible, and I don't like Bridge Over Troubled Water. The second one has nothing to do with Elvis, I just don't like the song period.
Hi Presley31 & Marija! I know you guys from myelvisworld, I'm just under a different name. :)

The Queen song titled "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was recorded by Doug Church and released on his "Kingtinued" 3 cd set.

Who said Elvis was gay? What does that have to do with not liking a song?? LOL...;)
Try to keep up. Go back and check Enigmatic Sun's posts ...

It is most definitely not a draw.
Elvis never sang a single line from this song anywhere! Ever.
Like I said, I never bet on stuff like this unless I am 100% sure; that is why - still - I have never lost a bet.

Don't worry, I don't like that song either. It just doesn't do anything for me.
I'm not gonna list every song I don't like, but here are a few:
Good Luck Charm
Stuck on You
King Creole

I'm not a person who can hate at all. So there are some songs I don't like. When you give me a chance to get away I would take only for not hearing those songs. But when such a possibility isn't given allright I listen to these songs.
My first choice of such songs is "Hey Jude". For me maybe the worst interpretation of this song. ANother ones "He's Your Uncle..." and "Old MacDonald...".

I thought I was going to be the first one to mention Unchained Melody, Donut. You bet me to it!!
Used to love Rightous Bros. version. Why I dislike it now, is because whenever media wants to show Elvis in 'decline' it's always the Elvis in Concert clip where he plays at the piano. I think he sings it remarkably well considering he isn't well and he's sitting down, but it upsets me, knowing it's nearly the end for him.
Don't like it now sung by either of them.
