Indeed those had to be some of Elvis' treasured memories w/ JD. Can you just imagine them at Graceland singing the gospel songs which meant so much to Elvis.

Thanks Irene, it's just that they seemed to have "bleeped" that part out - when he dedicated it -why is that I wonder?

The song wasn't dedicated to Elvis at all...I've seen this video and J.D. dedicated the song to his brother, Buddy, I believe. There's no mention of Elvis at all during the introduction of the song because Bill Gaither is quick to acknowledge Elvis's impact on Gospel music. This video was strictly a tribute to J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, period. I used to have this complete video but lost it a long time ago. Someone just took this video and added the Elvis pictures to it....that's probably where everyone is under the impression that the song is/was dedicated to Elvis.

Tony is right, I just checked out the video J.D. did dedicate to Elvis and it's called Elvis Has Left the Building and he sings Precious Memories as a tribute to him.
I think it's still posted on the site with the clips.

You're welcome, ladies.
If I can find it, I believe I still have the MP3 of "Elvis Has Left The Building" on my computer somewhere.....

Diane I bought that single years ago. There is also a 1978 double album called:
"JD Sumner and the Stamps present Memories of our friend Elvis"
Its a live recording of the Stamps and JD doing a lot of Elvis songs and also in between songs JD tells several Elvis stories. I doubt its on CD- but it was a nice tribute album.

God Diane, that has to be the saddest thing I've ever heard and the pics that come with it...the ones with Jesus hugging Elvis, and Elvis heading up the stairs to heaven....oh my word.....chill bumps for sure.

Yes it is to me too Kelly, but beautiful as well in a sad way. J.D. sure looks like he missed Elvis. That picture of Jesus hugging Elvis actually made me bawl the first time I saw it. I printed it out and put it away then someone posted it in the gallery here and there I went again.
