Hi, I've just been watching the Deluxe DVD and I noticed at the end of the the Concert (not the rehearsal) Elvis received a crown from someone in the audience. He then walked to the other end of the stage to say his farewells but walked with a limp. Has anyone else noticed this? does anyone know why he was limping as he seemed to be ok during the show.
Also I compared the ending of the Concert (disc 1) to the ending of the NBC TV Special (disc 2) and noticed that some of the shots were from different camera angles. As there wasn't a tape machine dedicated to each camera how's this possible? I'm not an expert on editing or production so how was this done with only one tape machine recording the director's choice of shots? Does this mean that there is another version of the whole Concert as seen from different camera angles?

Are you talking about Aloha or 68 special here?
If it's Aloha you're talking about it's been known about for a while that the Japanesse TV crew shot from differant angles. I guess they got hold of some of their footage and used it. If it's 68 special i don't have any idea there, sorry.

Answer to your first question. He then walked to the other end of the stage to say his farewells but walked with a limp. Has anyone else noticed this? I never noticed him limping but I will look at it and see what you are talking about.
Answer to your next question. As there wasn't a tape machine dedicated to each camera how's this possible? By the mixing room that was there during the show. The room was where all the camera was feeding into. The producer is able to go back and forth on the camera angles or in some areas show up to four different angles.
Answer to the the next question. I'm not an expert on editing or production so how was this done with only one tape machine recording the director's choice of shots? Well, on the tape machine you can have many different camera angles. Watch Hard Day's Night that starring The Beatles. During the concert that is at the end of the show you will see "the director" see all the camera angles at once in the machine. He will choose the angle that works best for the song.
Answer to the last question. Does this mean that there is another version of the whole Concert as seen from different camera angles? There is more camera angles from Aloha because of the Japanese Aloha. You will see different angles that wasn't used for the 2 Disc set. But no one camera filmed the whole show. They didn't have much time to do that because they had to filmed the "insert" songs and put them in for the American boardcast. It would take up too much time editing by hand.

The crown was plastic and spray painted gold. It had "The King" scrawled on it in big black-texta letters. I know this because I saw it up close when it was on display at Graceland many years ago. So Elvis kept it. I was there recently, but it is no longer on display.
As for the limp, I think it was just because the "going down on one knee then swapping over to the other one" at the end may have hurt him a little bit as he got up from it.
Re: the Aloha angles. The Japanese version of the show always had much better angles, and a few snippets of extra dialogue. Most of the "new" angles in the deluxe DVD came from that.
Just as the original Japanese version of the album had much better sound. The Japanese Elvis releases were superior in all respects than every other country's. The best example of this was their version of the On Stage LP from 1970: there's bits of dialogue on that which haven't been heard again, and the songs were in different order too. But now with the advent of CDs, worldwide releases are pretty much the same.

Maybe someone here can help you out if they are willing......:hmm:
I would but I don't know where my copy is of it. The whole concert is not on DVD. It is missing the ending of Suspisious Minds and the Band Introductions. Why? I don't know. Maybe the source it came from is mess up in that area.
