Anyone know if this suit has tassles on the back of the sleeves? I'm wondering if this suit is the one with the fringed sleeves that was captured in some black-and-white TV footage (I believe) from February, 1971 and in fan-shot footage from that August. I'm finally reunited with my concert VHS tapes, after two years without them, and I saw a clip from the August '71 engagement that made me go hmmmmm...

The plot thickens....Silvester's page has a couple of video grabs (different footage than the one I was talking about, though I think I have this clip, too...not sure if it's actually February or August):

Further, on the page that shows the tassle suit at Graceland he also has a Bill Belew sketch of the suit that seems to confirm that the suit has fringes on both arms and legs:

Looks to me like this 'short-fringe' suit may actually be the tassle suit and there's therefore footage of Elvis wearing it.

Elvis wore this suit during his 1971 Tahoe season. Official it's the "Knot Suit". The light blue macram? belt he's wearing in the picture is the same one he used in September 1972 with the "Blue Swirl".

I think the Knott suite and the White Tassel suit may be two different suits. Mom had a film of what looks like the White Tassel suit. The photos in this thread are all from film and are blurred and difficult to make out. It looks like the material hanging from his arms and legs are too thick to be the fringe from the knott suit, but that could just be the quality of pix.

Mom's film was taken by a friend of hers, I think in Texas, in Feb/Aug 70. On that film the "tassles" were actually fur, and it looked oddly like Elvis had a bunch of rabbit's foots hanging from the arms and legs. The photographer had also taped the show and Elvis stopped to talk about the jumpsuit. He said these were "ermine tips" on the jumpsuit. So we referred to the suit in the film as the Ermine Tip suit. I have never seen photos of this suit on display at Graceland. The Knott suit is on display and clearly the fringe is NOT ermine fur tips. So the Ermine Tip suit is not listed in this gallery, not on display in Graceland (as far as I know), and doesn't seem to have been photographed other than that film, which is short. I believe I still have the film but it will be a while before I can get it to DVD. Some of the photos in this thread look like they could be of the Ermine suit and not of the Knott suit (but that could just be do to the poor quality of the pix).

I really like this suit. I found this great video of him wearing it in concert at Lake Tahoe, I think.

I have to agree with Elain.
In the video you can see that there are definitely small fringes that are hanging down from Elvis' arms.

In the suit shown in Graceland there are no fringes on the arms.
See the picture I took when it was on display.

Which means that there is yet another suit that DOES HAVE fringes hanging down from the arms.

So it would definitely be interesting to see that film that Elain has. It makes me at least very curious about it.

looks like I was wrong. I searched through some old photos and found I also took a few photos from the side. And I was able to see the tassles hanging from the side.
So the 1971 live footage is the same suit as was on display in Graceland.

However the suit Elain is mentioning is then still unknown.
