Have a look at what some people think the lyrics say and what they really say.

 Thanks Elvislady, that was great !

My mum used to think, on the song (Marie's the name) his latest flame, he said:
"And the reason is, of his latest flame"

Haha, oh how we get confused ;)

Thanks!

This was too cute! My own misheard tune - Hard Headed Woman. First time I heard the song was in the movie King Creole. It was in the background, the club's doorman was announcing to folks about Danny being the performer & I heard Elvis singing: "Elvis' in the house tonight" instead of "ever since the world began." I had to back up my dvd - I thought maybe the studio was having fun having 'Danny Fisher' sing about Elvis! Boy was I off!

hehe.. First time I thought that "(Marie's the name) his latest flame" goes:

And Marie's the name
Of his lady's flame

But then I looked at the lyrics and I realized that it goes:
And Marie's the name
Of his latest flame.

"If you can't find a partner, use a whirlpool chair"

"In the golden turkey rain"

"We can't make tea together
With suspicious ice"

"I spilled tea all over your BLT"

"Cream and ice"

Haha! That sure is funny! Thanks!

How about "a runny little boy with a hungry nose"? If memory serves me correctly, he once sang that. But it was for humorous purposes.

So did he sing "Don't Cry Fatty" in 1970? To be honest I can't always remember when alternative lyrics have been given a try.

There have been other funny things, such as a "fusion" of "Suspicious Minds" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water". In 1973 he sang one song to the music of the other..!

The guy in my avatar is Dennis Hopper. The woman is Isabella Rossellini. The picture is from David Lynch's "Blue Velvet"; if you're interested you should take a look at the off-topic section where I'll post something about it.

Back in the 70's I had an old-maid aunt that couldn't drive, but everytime she got in the car she wanted to hear "Caught In A Trap". I still think of that when I hear "Suspicious Minds".:D:D

LOL...this is so cute! My oldest son used to call it the same thing! He would always say, "Mommy play my favorite song now", and I would ask "Which one is it again?"...and he would shout loudly..."Caught in a Trap!". Too funny...

One of my favourite songs is clean up your own backyard.I defy anyone to tell me the words to the last line of the last verse without looking it up: when you get right down to the nitty gritty isn't a pity... The rest sounds great but it's impossible to understand. Great song!
