Yes I did see this show...and am as previously said in my earlier post, more than a bit upset with the bbc for allowing these so called "BEST ELVIs"es in the world to be on the show..when there are tons of decent ones out there..
Lee (memphis) king is a friend of mine and is superb, and Shawn Klush(also a friend)is likewise.but there were some who didnt even know the words to the songs..One of the best eta's in the business Neil Duncan.was not included ,I spoke to him today and he said the bbc really messed him about,so he didnt continue..
This may seem harsh words, but this is my opinion...

I thought I was watching the ugliest man in the world competition. Weren`t they horrendous?
The last one put through from the aloha show segment was o.k. with the mannerisms and the one in the blue suit put through doesnt have the looks but his voice was good.
Overall though it wasnt a very positive projection of elvis`s image.
The ones in the army uniforms were like something out of thunderbirds.

I agree with ya joanne..
the one in the blue suit was lee king, and yes i have seen him many times,he can do elvis in the 50s 60s and vegas years and overall is a good eta.
and shawn klush who won the aloha is also very good.but some of them just didnt have a clue..i know im critical..but this is ELVIS we are talking about..
the gi ones looked like they were on a karoke on a sat eve,,,
did any one else see the show.
would like their opinions.

I thought Lee Memphis and Shawn were definetly the best and I also thought the first Irish one was good too (can't remember his name now). Overall I thought this show was terrible. Some of them looked bad and didn't even sound at all like Elvis.
I don't know for sure who I want to win at the moment so I'll wait until next weeks show to judge who I think is the best, but it is either between Lee or Shawn.

Johnny Harra is the best. He has the titled of "The Best Elvis Impersonator that has ever been around".

Yeah,I watched the show and I quiet enjoyed it!The Memphis King and Shawn Klush were the best IMO.OMG,did u see Joe Esposito almost crying when he commented on Shawn's performance I think? When I closed my eyes,I felt like I was listening to Elvis singing My Way, he was really good(y) I can't wait 4 next Saturday's finale.:)

Yes Lee King and Shawn were definatly the two who had any talent.
Yes i was quite choked when i heard joe's comments.
and quite annoyed when the judges half the time didnt even include him in their decisions or votes.
After all joe knows Elvis better than any of them or us...
I think and hope next weeks show will be more sensible and pay more of a tribute to THE KING...

Elvis contest fails to serenade viewers

The start of BBC1's latest singing competition, The World's Greatest Elvis, failed to make it to the top of the hit parade, attracting 3.4m viewers (17.8%) as ITV1's The X Factor swept all before it.

The 55-minute BBC1 show went out at 6.55pm and started off slowly, with an audience of just 2.5m (13.4%), but managed to significantly increase its audience whilst it was on air.

The Vernon Kaye-fronted show, which hunts for the best Elvis Presley impersonator, peaked with 4.3m (21.8%) at 7.30pm and gained 4m (19.8%) in the final 15 minutes. However, the show was still some way below BBC1's slot average for the year to date of 5.1m (26.7%).

The World's Greatest Elvis was no match for ITV1's ratings juggernaut The X Factor. The commercial network's own search-for-a-star format gained a strong 8m (44.6%) at 6.25pm, with the hour-long show peaking at 9.2m (48.9%) at 7pm.

Later in the evening, the results show for Elvis was more successful. The 40 minute show at 9.30pm picked up 4.1m (20.6%), but was still down on the slot average of 4.9m (23.2%).

Nevertheless it gained the upper hand against ITV1's Elton John: Me, Myself and I. The 90 minute profile of the flamboyant singer gained 3.2m (17.7%), slightly above the slot average of 3.1m (16.5%).

I enjoyed the show but agree they did not have the cream of the crop to choose from, personally feel that Lee Memphis King should have made the final 2 as his voice was so much better than gino's. Theres a new ETA/Elvis forum in the UK with a poll about the show at

www.elvistributes.freeforums.org

Seems I'm not the only one with this opinion!!

I think I`d be happier if this show didn`t exist!......nothing personal against any (Well...most..!) of the contestants but I think it is one great big joke and does nothing positive for the memory of Elvis.....Sorry for being Mr. Grouchy but that`s the way it is for me.

Shaw Klush's Illusion is amazing but...Sorry,His voice is not all there.Unless you guys are tone deaf you have to agree. Its decent but he cannot reach a lot of the notes and he does this weird thing with his voice.Dont know if its trying to get out some fake vibrato or what but it just doesnt sound right. He cannot hit those high notes Elvis did.If he works with a vocal coach he could definately improve his range.Just my honest opinion as a music major.

But like most people have said, he is not Elvis, he is just purely keeping the memory alive.

I loved his voice, no he isn't like Elvis, but who is ? :D

yes Excatly.. he isn't Elvis...but I have to say..HE IS INCREADBLE to do the Elvis show. :)Wow...the jokes on the stage, his moves, smile, the half smile thing..is just like Elvis. I dont know if it's really him..or is he practiced enough? or maybe he is Elvis' lost son... LOL.
I'll try to put some videos from the London show as soon as possible ;)

But you gotta see his show if possible..I'm sure you'll love it.

I didn't see the special, but I did see shawn klush and Donny Edwards doing a show this past weekend and they were both great. I was actually very surprised that I enjoyed the show as much as I did because I'm pretty anit-Elvis impersonators. They were both really really good though. I would recommend going to see either of them.

IMO, every generation deserves it's heroes.
Elvis might be gone --but the ones that didn't get to see him in person; deserve the thrill of experiencing
"the way it was " as close as they can.
I welcome the truly good ETA's.
