I don't know if anyone is interested in this, but I thought I would post it!

EIN's Nigel Patterson recently warmed up his home theater to view David Stanley's directorial film debut, "Protecting The King". It is the story of Stanley's coming of age, his loss of innocence after becoming one of the King's bodyguards while still a teenager.

With a mixed emotional element but several very powerful scenes and flashes of important insight, "Protecting The King" proves to be a strong directorial debut by Stanley.

At times the film has a brutally frank edge, and this is unlikely to endear it to some fans. However, it will have merit for those wishing to better understand life around Elvis with its incredible pressures and temptations; and for fans interested in exploring the human frailties and weaknesses which often afflict those thrust into such a surreal existence. Thanks for the article Franny.

I do know how I feel about it. I don't want to see another book or film or even an interview from the Stanley brothers. I can see some positive side to the Wests and some of MM but I don't think there is a single Elvis fan who likes or trusts anything these three have to say or do.

Jen, I feel that if it's going to go that way, it's going to go that way regardless. It's not like someone can reach through my computer screen and punch me in the nose. No one can hurt you here unless you let them.

I don't know about this, and isn't he the guy dating Pris? Or have I got the names confused? lol
Anyway, hmmm...I used to trust Ricky, but he's been on the outs w/Pris & Lisa so there must be a reason for that, I'm thinking it's his big mouth got him in trouble.lol
I think the book "Elvis We Love You Tender" wasn't that bad considering some that were written both prior and after it, but like Diane (I think lol) said can't trust anything any of the Stanley's have to say, I mean just look who their mother is and what she's said and done, u know? lol
But again not seen it yet, maybe I'll change my mind once I view it, though the title is a bit hypocritical to me.lol

his dating Pris was a rumour Suzan, I heard it too but I cannot believe she would (have done it) And I think it was Billy who was rumoured to have been with her one night not sure tough. I know one of the Stanley boys had a huge crush on her when she first came to live there but don't know the name anymore. One of the dark haired guys not Ricky.

You might be thinking of the book Elvis My Brother by Billy Stanley. He had a passage telling about Priscilla and David making out in the car after having gone swimming naked in the Graceland pool. Billy has a huge drug problem so he is not a good source of truth either.

Wasn't this suppose to be called The Headhunter?

I'm not interested in seeing this! As it's stated, this is about David Stanley's life!

Franny, David was going to produce one called the Headhunter but I think it was supposed to be all about his years as Elvis' bodyguard. I don't know if this one is different and just about David's life or not.

From the clips I've seen of the Headhunter I'm not going near it and if this is just about David's life - I'm not interested.

Diane, I think it's one and the same! If, I'm wrong please tell me!

The Headhunter was suppose to be about how David's life changed after he became a bodyguard for Elvis! The main story was to be on David's life!

I'm not interested either! (n)

I don't think you're wrong Franny. I think it's one and the same too. I doubt very much that he would be working on a second project so soon. As far as I know the Headhunter hasn't even been released yet and I'm still hoping it won't be. From the clips I've seen, Elvis looks as sleazy and heartless as he did in Elvis and Me, maybe even worse. I don't think I could take two of those films, nor could Elvis' image and I feel there's been more than enough damage already.

I have photos of them out to dinner, Nigel, Cilla, Lisa, & Lockwood at the "Little Door" they are denying the rumors but they've also been seen kissing at other restaurants in the L.A.area, and Pris in the beginning, also denied her relationship w/Marco...so...I'm going to wait and see.:D I don't think it's a rumor. She also denied if you remember, splitting from Marco when I said way way way back that my source was saying April....only to come and find out my info was accurate when someone else's source was still saying they were together.:)

I thought it was David who skinny dipped in 1979 w/Pris in Graceland's pool and prior to that made out w/her in the car in the parking lot of a famous Memphis rib place restaurant? And also watched her get undressed in her hotel room....but again this come's from the Stanley's and other ???? sources.:D

I agree Yadee...about the $$$...but then who around Elvis during his lifetime at this point isn't in it for that? W/exception of Lisa.

I have seen this movie and it is very average.
It is let down not by some very poor acting.
A couple a curious scenes are depicted, Elvis is rescued by Stanley in New York 1976 ie, after leaving the stage Elvis is attacked by some nut with a knife.
In another scene Charlie Hodge is depicted as sexually assaulting a woman, with Stanely coming to the rescue again.

Charlie? ok now I really think I've heard it all from the Stanley's, why oh why won't they just go away???? He was so strung out on drugs I think his "recollections" are huge trips he's still taking rof

The movie has its moments, Stanleys direction is not to bad, but it could have been a lot better.
