I am soooo glad to see Beyonce's gonna be on Viva Las Vegas, the ABC special next week. So is 50 Cent, 3 Six Mafia, and Rob Thomas.
3 Six is the local rap group from memphis who won the Oscar for the song It's Hard Out There For A Pimp.
This outta help the image of Elvis in the black community.
I saw the add for the show tonight and Beyonce says "Elvis is....sexy!".

Well I'm all disappointed about this news. Darn it, I was hoping to see lots of unseen footage of Elvis on stage in Las Vegas without it being mucked up by a bunch of other performers. :'(

I saw the previews last night during the football game and she did indeed say what Lakeisha posted. She was actually talking about EP at the very beginning by saying "Elvis is" and then they showed highlights of EP in Vegas in 1970 and then at the end of the preview she continued "sexy" and then laughed as it ended. I am looking forward to this show now after seeing the list of named complimenting him.
And I don't think they paid Beyonce or anyone to say anything like that. Beyonce has made it clear before that she admires him for fighting the racial problems of the 50's. Beyonce is part of the SONY BMG music family that EP is a part of. So that would be the reason she is on there. It certainly wasn't the money as she is one of the wealthiest celebrities around.

The footage looked great. Better than what's been out. It was in High Definition that I saw it in and the show is scheduled to be shown in High Def for the special.(y)

Hey Lakeisha, nice to see you posting again! To me, this is great news that these wonderful and talented, ( not to mention, extremely popular African-Americans artists ) are giving their respect to our guy, it's fantastic!

They are good performers. I'm sorry Lakeisha that my first post was harsh, I meant no disrespect to the other performers. I've just been looking for a really good program with just Elvis with some footage we haven't seen so far.

Of course, coming back in attack mode full force.
By the way, in case it slipped you by, my comment is rational and not far fetched, with a twist of sarcasm ... :P
Too Hard to grasp, yes I know, so, break out your thesauras !
And if you think for one minute Beyonce was paid for her services to be part of this television special, well, then that is being naive to the fullest (y)

No, in reality, your bannishment from this forum was justified and neccesary and proves that YOU were held accountable for your actions !!!
But it's not my forum. It's theres.
Watch your step ...
So it is what it is.
Think it's time to come up with a new phrase ...

Forgive me for asking, but why do they mention this pimp-thing? What has it got to do with Elvis..?
I used to live in a black neighborhood and I'm still alive, but I just think I'd appreciate older-generation black artists (Mahalia Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Roy Hamilton) more. It was a time when black music still had some innocence to it.
I repeat I beg your pardon for requesting some explanation.

Uh Huh, spin, spin and more spin when faced with the harsh reality of your unwarranted actions.
I can see your already up to your old tricks and you have only been back less than 1/2 a day ...
Predictable ...

ATTENTION MODERATORS. WHAT DOES THIS PERSONAL FLAMING HAVE TO DO WITH THIS TOPIC OR ELVIS? WHY IS THIS BEHAVIOR ALLOWED TO CONTINUE AND NOT DISIPLINED?

Lol Sweet Caroline, I'm glad I'm not alone. I was feeling pretty narrow there and old fashioned all by myself, but now I have you and Franny. :)
Diane
I was also hoping for footage I had not seen. In the promo I saw on You Tube it looked pretty much like footage already shown. The promo said home movies never seen and I know the ones in the promo have been shown elsewhere. heres the You Tube link

I think it's great that they have a variety of people giving tributes to Elvis but I'm also with Diane too. I think most of Elvis' Fans are tired of seeing the same footages over and over again. They should show something new of Elvis that no one has seen before. That would make a perfect show.

The Elvis cd Viva Las Vegas has now slipped to #166 on the main BB 200 chart here in America.
The only good, or positive, thing that could come out of this ABC special tomorrow nite is some good promo and a major boost in sales for the disc !!!
