Apart from, or in conjunction with Elvis's extremely handsome looks,
that he had in his younger and better days, what made or still makes
Elvis so unique and compelling to you, as both a music performer and
person, compared to other (still living, or also now deceased) music and film performers, whom you also admire.

If this has been well discussed before on the forum, please give any any previous thread links.

What made Elvis so unique is that he cared about his fans, not a lot of performers care about their fans, his voice never heard one like that and never will again. What I found amazing that 1.5 billion people watched him in Aloha and that he has sold over a billion records and has had 31 number one hits. Wow, just wow.

As Mick Jagger once put it: "He was a unique artist, an original".

There are so many things that made Elvis unique. He was a true entertainer. Vocally speaking, he was in a league of his own...unmatched to this very day. There was just something special about his voice, even when he was just talking, it was appealing to me. I always felt that he poured out his soul when he sang, allowing us a glimpse into the multi-faceted man that he was. :king:
Elvis' personality.... Ever the practical joker, quick with a smile or a laugh..always trying to make people happy. :king:
His generousity... He gave away a large portion of his wealth, to friends, family, charities, and he gave it with a cheerful heart! :king:
His spirituality... I always admired his faith in God, and the fact that he was not ashamed to tell people how he felt. :king:

There are so many things about Elvis that appeal to me... I'll try to sum it up by saying that his "appeal" is a package deal. Looks, talent, personality, his love for his fans and mankind in general, charisma, southern charm, sensuality, warmth, spirituality, that smile...it could go on endlessly! He was the total package. And there will never be another like him...:king::notworthy

He is the only one who can pull off them dance moves. He is the only one who can 'Play' the audience. He has such charisma. He had the Humour. Underneath the Star image, there was a real human being, with feelings. Not a lot of the people saw that while he was alive. He was just a normal man, although on stage he was a 'King' a 'God'.

I liked the way he went from nothing, literally, to something, with his own talent. He made his own way to success, to fame. From the minute Sun Studio let him in, i dn't think they ever regretted it.

Also, i like the way when something negative was thrown in his face he through it back in their face with a new dance move, a new song. No matter what, everyone got to like him.

Yes, you said it The King's Queen..There will never be another like him..

His voice, it always has to come back to that voice. Whenever an Elvis record begins, you know who it is straight away.

That basically he captured audiences with very little: his voice
(he could actually sing, where do you find that nowadays?),
his looks (nuff said), his charisma.
When you think about what entertainers today need to capture
and keep an audience's attention: big screens, many dancers,
fireworks, projections, a million wardrobe changes...... Compared
to that, Elvis had the simplest of shows: a band and orchestra,
some special lighting effects and he who had it all, period.

From the very beginning he looked, acted and sounded different than anyone before him - or after.

He was just totally unique, special and unbeatable in all aspects.

I can listen to Elvis' music and feel that each song is different.

Each song has it's own feel, it's own story, with Elvis' voice, inflections, feel, adapting to the story he is singing.

Elvis, as a perfomer, his catalogue isn't "one album and you've heard them all" as I have found, in my opinion, a lot fall into. Elvis is the only performer, whose vast catalogue, I own a lot of (thanks to some wonderful friends).

Other artists, I like a few songs, and that is it.

I cannot honestly think, of another performer whose catalogue is like this, each song is individual and unique because of the work he put into each song.

I loved Elvis' movie songs when young, now I am older, I have discovered his Gospel, his Country, plus other songs which I didn't know existed.

Elvis keeps on giving through his music.

In my opinion, no-one, no-one else comes close to Elvis' incredible talent.

To add to this, Elvis adored his fans, he was generous, wise, thoughtful and loving. He truely loved his fans, and because of this, they love him back.

His music will be with us forever, as will he genes through his Lisa, and her children.

Never forgotten, loved beyond measure, and a blessing to me.

I liked what Lisa said about his spirit reaching out and touching other spirits. Once you saw him, it was like you had known him all you life and he was the answer to everything. I look at other perfomers and they are just people. But Elvis was ELVIS. He truely is a gift from God.

This would be my answer too. I've always loved to listen to Elvis sing, but even more so now and as the years go on. I feel like he's been a friend of mine forever through his singing.

I could listen to Elvis sing anything and it would make an impression on me. To hear Roger Whittaker sing The Last Farewell...eh. (nothing against him). But to hear Elvis sing The Last Farewell, that's an entirely different ball game. I just get lost in hearing him sing and his music. Hell, he could have done rap/hip hop and I would have loved it! :hmm:
