I've never ever heard people talk about Lawdy Miss Clawdy being in Change of Habit!!!

:)Watching Elvis and Mary Tyler Moore doing a jam of Lawdy Miss Clawdy really caught me by surprise!!!They should have Lawdy as part of the soundtrack!!!By the way i finally watched this great movie(Change of Habit)today(although of course i've seen it before but not for awhile,and i bought the dvd a few month's ago!),and i was so impressed by the story,and Elvis does a fantastic job of acting and just being so natural and charismatically charming!!!:)

P.S.-This movie features the very first time that Ed Asner and Mary Tyler Moore appeared in a film of any kind together just before their huge hit of a t.v show called,uh,er,ah...well believe me it was a pretty big hit!!!(Ted Baxter was my fave!):lol:

Also P.S.-Maybe because of the '68 Special Lawdy was in the movie or it's just such a gutsy and fun song to perform...:clap::)

Ian you mean to tell me you have never seen Change Of Habit until now? You're slipping. Seriously, I agree it is a great social film. And it crosses racial and stereotype lines. If only he could have done more films like this.

I agree with the sentiment that Elvis' acting was very natural in this movie. I've heard it often said that in the later movie years Elvis didn't seem to care as much, but I disagree. Though there might not have been as wide a range of emotions expressed as in King Creole or Wild In The Country, the fact is that the movies in the latter part of the 60s didn't call for that -- and for that and other reasons they were generally inferior films. But my point is that Elvis did become more comfortable in front of the camera and more convincing...cool and confident.

The reason why Change of Habit is my favorite Elvis movie because his acting skills shined through. I first seen it five years ago during the 25th anniversary, it was six in the morning and I was tired but I didn't care! I watched that movie and ordered it a day later! :lmfao:

I noticed that they were playing Lawdy Miss Clawdy the second time I've seen it. I knew it sounded familiar.

If they really can't do without REMIXES, Our suggestion for BMG is to try to REMIX some of the following songs by ONLY "adding country steel guitar" to it...and you'll see the fantastic result !!! we all know how much E loved football and how he had his private leagues and stuff. then in "Change of Habit" he gets a chance to throw a pass on screen and it's the biggest lame-duck wobbler i've ever seen. i can't believe he didn't demand a retake to get a perfect spiral on film. ;D

I was one of the first to point that out on the internet. Some knew about it but alot didn't know. They played the movie to watch that scene on they are like wow. I didn't know that. I pointed that out about two years ago.(y):D:P

I have to agree his last movies his acting is much more natural and unforced. The scripts seemed a little better in some ways. He was not just the smooth uncomplicated guy who sings and gets girls there was a little more depth to the characters he played.

I really liked Change Of Habit back in the day. But now I find it very dated.

Elvis looked fantastic in it, and it was a great departure. But, yes, it is dated. Mary Tyler-Moore recently described it as "an awful little film".

My mom has never been a fan of Elvis, and hated his movies. But when "Change of Habit" aired for the first time on national TV in 72 she loved it. I had never heard her compliment anything Elvis ever.
1969 in the US we had race riots and the Civil Rights marches, the Vietnam War had the country divided-this was an attempt to try to tie into what was going on. I got to admit though, I never met an "undercover nun" back then.:D

I love "Change Of Habit"!! (y) (y) One of my favourite movies from him! I was surprised as well when I heard the song in it. This was great!
