You and me both. I always thought that the footage in this suit, Elvis looked his best in EOT compared to the light blue and very dark blue suits. I have seen snippets of this San Antonio show and hope the whole show exists. Great clip(y)

Richmond (April 10, 1972)
Greensboro (April 14, 1972)
San Antonio (April 18, 1972)
Parts of Buffalo, Macon, and Jacksonville was filmed as well.
I have read this list also. I just hope its true and eventually makes it out.

Then for the EOT DVD release ... two discs. With the movie, a new version of it, and all four of these shows, but what was filmed at the other shows via the single camera for testing purposes.
Is that too much to ask EPE, MGM etc ... get your act together NOW!

Actually Yes, because the fact that the alot of the Richmond concert has been lost. Either it has been misplace or it is in another part of the salt mine. I know this because of my friend who used to work in the mine until last year. The rest of the complete shows has not been found either. See, you need to know that it costs money to go through to find the footage and then it cost money to release it. Alot of the film cans has no name on it. Meaning it could be Elvis or one of thousands of other movies. Now that being said they have to see if they can get their money back and a profit. As I have said before, they are not looking at just Elvis fans. They are looking at the general public to see if they will get a profit or not. They know that Elvis fans are guaranteed to buy it but they are not 100% sure of the general public.
But also again, EPE has nothing to do with the movies at all. Only the companies who made them. Just because they are Elvis movies doesn't mean EPE owned them. They have even said that so the Elvis fans knows that. Do they want them release? They are always up for new releases but it is not their call.

Well EPE would still be involved in the 50 % profits deal Elvis had on many of his movies, but they would not be able to force anyone to release anything. To make money you have to spend it, but its much easier to take the quick profit by doing little more than repackaging old product doing very little to it then cut a deal with Walmart to sell it. By doing this many like myself will just keep the versions we already have. No reason to buy it.
Until about 2 years ago they were claiming there was no other footage for EOT and TTWII. When the "Lost performances" video came out in 92 they said this was all the outtakes which had been kept. Jerry Schilling was an Associate Producer on it and I recall he said on some show that "This may be the last 3 camera pro shot film of Elvis we'll ever see" Well how many hours were somehow leaked out a couple years back between the 2 movies, something like 30. Some of the outtakes I've seen clips of are in pretty good shape, some are not-but fans have been working on them with their little home computer systems and have made great improvements in picture clarity and color. It does boil down to spending the money and time to actually retore them.
The new TTWII 2 disc set was a disappointment because they obviously could have made an effort to show what they could do in restoring some of the clips which are the extras on the discs.- If they had done work on them and then promoted that fact "digitally restored- crisp and clear -with a great sound" Elvis fans like myself would go buy it. Everyone blames the TTWII Special Edition from a few years back for their hesitance in doing anything with all the film they have unreleased. The problem- IMO- started with airing the show on TCM before it went on sale. A lot of people recorded it right off the air and too many people that is good enough. So how many sales were lost from doing this? They were planning a few bonus's on the disc and it never happened. It was a poor way to launch it IMO. If the extras had made it to the disc-maybe even those who recorded it off the air would have bought it!
I think they probably know where 95% of all this film is (well enough to have a huge boxset)-but its a nice excuse they can use to avoid messing with it. Perhaps by the 50th anniversary they will go to work on it-but I'll be gone.

I would say they know about 65% of TTWII outtakes and only about 45% or so of Elvis On Tour. But remember the person who did the 2001 Special Editon said that alot of the film cans wasn't marked at all. So you need to think that is how Elvis On Tour is. It could be the same way. But most of the TTWII outtakes and the Known EOT have been quarantine because they have vinegar syndrome. Now, if they have copies of these now they won't be first generation. It will be a second generation.

All I know is there are hours and hours of clips all over the world. New ones seem to pop up weekly. Some are pretty bad looking and then later you see someone has actually worked on it and even cut different angles together to give it a crisper cleaner more professional look. I won't buy this kind of stuff but you see it everywhere. If fans can do it so can the studio which owns them.
I have a sneaking suspicion that all the film was found back in 92. There is the famous picture of the producers of EOT standing in front of stacks & stacks of dated marked film cans. Those all seemed to be labeled and they were piled high. But like I said I would be willing to pay for restored footage from the studio if they put it out.

Yes, yes, you've said that a few times. I know that; I've always known that. There's no need to keep repeating this ...
But EPE does have something to do with the overall situation ... it's Elvis after all. EPE should be opening negotiations with MGM and any other associated parties to bring EOT and anything else to light. Now.
Instead, they've been pissing about all year with things like this abominable Elvis impersonator contest and other furphies. MGM aren't going to do anything without being prodded. EPE needs to get off its arse.

Yes, they are Elvis movies. Yes, EPE/CPX has Elvis' name and likeness but they have no kind of control on the 33 films at all. MGM doesn't have to have EPE/CPX permission to used the films jsut because Elvis is in it, MGM owned those few and the other companies owns theirs. Since Elvis signed the movie contract, his name and likeness in the movies themselves are owned by the movie companies.
The way you are talking about it will cost EPE/CPX money to have permission then it would cost MGM more money to release it so it other words, no release at all. There would be no profit at all that way. EPE has always said they love new releases but it is not up to them at all, no questions ask.
EPE/CPX has to ask permission to use the footage that was used for Elvis The Concert that comes from EOT and TTWII which costs them money to use it. EPE/CPX took the chance the first time and saw it do well. So they decided to do a world tour. They ask permission again for each world tour which each tour became successful which means profit.
I would like to see them release it as well. What Elvis fan wouldn't. But the general public doesn't want to see it. Until that happens they won't consider a release of the footage.

More importantly, funkyangel, Elvis is wearing the Red Lion suit, and San Antonio is, I believe, the only show filmed on that tour where he wore it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
You can't just say it's not from San Antonio then not offer an alternative date! ;)

It is from San Antonio. It was the only date that was filmed by MGM cameras when Elvis wore the Red Lion suit. Yes, MGM filmed the other dates as well but not Elvis on stage. Footage that is seen in EOT and the link that was provided is from San Antonio.
Here is a list of the dates that was filmed by MGM along with the suits that he wore on those dates:
Hampton Roads Virginia - April 9, 1972 2:30pm show: Burning Love Suit (No footage found yet)
Hampton Roads Virginia - April 9, 1972 8:30pm show: Blue Nail Studded suit
Richmond, Virginia - April 10, 1972 8:30 pm show: Burning Love suit
Greensboro, North Carolina - April 14, 1972 8:30pm show: Royal Blue Fireworks Suit
San Antonio, Texas - April 18, 1972 8:30pm show: Red Lion Suit
As you can see on one show was filmed in which he wore the Red Lion Suit.

In San Antonio, the band wore black! The intro. of Presley coming out, you see the band in light colour outfits! However, there is San Antonio footage in there!
I have seen a clip which claims to be Macon Ga. 4-15-72 and in it two songs are done THats Alright and Proud Mary in the red lion suit? So someone has their dates or suits wrong it seems.
I found a picture I entered into the Gallery supposedly from 4-15-72 the Macon 8:30 show he is wearing the Red Lion.
Here is something Joe Tunzi said about film from EOT:
Q-The details about the filming of ''Elvis On Tour'' contains some additions when compared to your previous Sessions book such as extras from rehearsals and April 10th, 1972 Richmond, VA concert to name a few. We guess this is safe to assume here that all the ones contain in ''Sessions III'' were filmed without a shadow of a doubt and paperwork / films exist of those performances, and thus included in the book. Having said that, is it possible that several reels and/or performances haven't been catalogued yet and accumulating dust into the MGM/ Turner's vaults ? The book ''Sessions II'' stated that on this very same subject and I quote ".... more footage may not even be developed". This statement of yours dated from 1996. Does this statement is still valid and are there some hopes for extra materials filmed in March / April '72 to show up in the future ?
JOE: Since Elvis Sessions II, a lot of work had been done by Time-Warner to accurately document what they have in their archives, hence it becomes obvious that what we've listed in Elvis Sessions III is quite definitive. If the question is can there be any more surprises, the answer would be absolutely. This footage was not in one specific location; rather it was located in several vaults, which leads to the possibility that at one or more of the vaults more footage may not be cataloged. The same may hold true for '' That's The Way It Is '' as well.
So who knows what is still out there- maybe they do not even know for sure what was filmed and where.

If you are talking about the footage that was provided on here I jsut caught that myself. The band is wearing light blue suits. The band wore black. During the footage like the front view and behind you see black outfits but when it is in the angle that it starts of with it or from the left side of Elvis is light blue.
Hmmm, so that means the footage of the band wearing light blue suits is either from the following dates:
Detroit, MI and Roanoke, VA because that other than San Antonio in which he wore the Red Lion Suit. But my book on what was filmed for Elvis On Tour says nothing about the other dates if they was filmed or not. So that is a mystery. Unless Leroy or someone else can point out what color the band was wearing on the other dates we will never know. I now have to go through another book of mine to see if the other two dates was filmed or not.
KPM - Elvis did not sing That's All Right Mama in Macon 1972. I know this because I live in Macon and I have a friend who went to all of his Macon shows in the 70s. He says Elvis only sung That's All Right Mama one time and one time only. That was in August 31, 1976 which is provide by the sounboard of the show on CD titled Southbound. So that info you got is wrong that they told you. Even in the Macon News Clippings that I have seen of 1972 it says Elvis came out on stage and start singing See See Rider. As for him singing Proud Mary I can not say.
If you can provide the clip itself and let me see it, I can tell you if it is from Macon or not. I live 15 miles south of Macon. The Macon Coliseum had a higher stage than the average stage Elvis performed on. Please go to this link that I am providing. This is Elvis in Macon in 1977. As you see Elvis is getting down from the stage which is near a dumpster. The drop off is high as you can see. The stage of the Macon Coliseum was laid out different than most stages. Elvis dressing room was to the left of the stage but Elvis enter onto the stage near the Sweets and the rest of the Vocal Band. There was no way for Elvis to enter the stage as he did in Hampton Roads which is from the left of the stage. So Elvis made his round by climbing on the stage in the back and then make his way. He did this every time he was in Macon. Photos in the Macon Coliseum can confirmed this because they have photos of Elvis entering the stage near the Sweets. The stage was about 3 foot off the ground. Elvis jump off of it in 1976 and twisted his ankle which he was rush to the near by hospital which was next door to the coliseum. That is how high the stage was.

There is a similar thread on another site, they say that the beginning of this footage was shot in Detroit as the band was wearing pale blue. When the camera switches to the front of Elvis, then it's from San Antonio, hope this helps!

I looked at your picture and to me it looks like that is probably a loading dock backstage where he would go to get in his limo. It does not look like the front or side stage because you can not see any audience or curtains. But the video I saw did not show the height of the stage anyway from what I saw.

I apologize to you on this one. I just checked the source and it does show the song as See See Rider and Proud Mary-(Why I typed and thought Thats Alright is a mystery to me chalk it up to age)But
The clip is on an Import 2 disc set called "Elvis On Tour Day by Day" & 2nd disc "Outtakes and Rehearsals" I have no way of posting it but have seen it and the back cover says it is from 4-15-72 Macon Ga. the songs are the ones See See Rider and Proud Mary I stated earlier.
Also in another interview with Joe Tunzi the question is raised about the Macon shows(among others) having been filmed and he does not discount it. Similar answer to the one he gave that I posted earlier.
I looked at your photo and the clip I saw did not really give any view which would tell you how high the stage was. the picture actually to me looks like a backstage loading dock where he would go to get in his limo, not like the side or front of the stage but it really doesn't matter since I can not tell anything from it.

Ok, the photo I provided is not a loading dock because the loading dock was not added at the Macon Coliseum until 1980. What they used for a loading dock is not near where the stage was at all but it really wasn't a made as a loading dock at all. It was near the entrance to the Coliseum itself. The stage was at the south end of the coliseum at the time of Elvis. The "loading dock" was near the north entrance.
Ok, as for the stage of the Macon Coliseum in which Elvis was on. The following link please right click and save target as. This is from Christian's site Elvis Rare Footage. The footage is Elvis at the Macon Coliseum in 1975. As you see there is a small wall near where the piano player is and you can see the fans right there near him when he walks towards them as he waves to them when he came out. That wall hooks on to the stage just near the piano player. I would say it be about 5 feet away from him maybe 6. The floor stage is very shining as well, you can almost see your face when standing up, it was that shining and that is how it was all the time. The Macon Coliseum one of only five places I know that is lay out nearly the same way. Those other places he wasn't at during Elvis On Tour. If the footage that you have is like in any way then more in likely it is from Macon. I hope you understand what I am talking about.

By my book that I hd to go through. You hit it right on the head. Detroit was filme but only small parts of it was. At most only 20 minutes of the show was filmed by MGM.

As far as the picture you showed me it really gives me little to go by. Also there is no new link in your post to Christians rare footage site.
But the stage in the footage is very very shiny. Also in comparing the footage of San Antonio to the footage suppose to be Macon I can say for sure-IMO it is different footage. Both are in the Red Lion suit and have red scarfs but it is not the same footage. Elvis's hair in the Macon footage is more combed back with a small amount falling down on one side. In the San Antonio footage it is parted slightly on the side and kind of combed different than normal. So I would say that this which is at Macon on this 10 minute clip.

So you are saying that the footage that is on the DVD you have of Elvis on stage, that the stage is the same as in the footage I provided for you. Is the right?

I am saying -having looked at the clips of San Antonio and the clip that is listed as Macon- the two clips IMO are not the same. Using the link you had me go to (at the Rare video site) I compared the floor of the stage to each other- both are super shiny. He is in the Red Lion Suit in both the San ANtonio clip and the clip listed as Macon, his hair is styled different in both. The import says the 10 minute clip of See See Rider and Proud Mary is from Macon Ga 4-15-72.
So from all of that I think it is Macon. Can I be 100% sure No. But from the info I have at this point in time- thats what it looks like.
. I an not trying to start a controversy (which seems to happen alot anymore) The import says its from that date thats what started my questioning on it. So far everything I have seen comes to that conclusion. IMO

Well, I have an idea. If you have Power DVD on your computer you could take photos of the video clip. On the player there shouldbe a camera icon. That takes photos of the picture that has been pause of the DVD. If you can take a series of photos and let me see them I then can tell you 100% that it is from Macon. If you have Power DVD and can take the photos, lets say 10 maybe, the photos will be in the following location: c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\cyberlink\power dvd\snapshot
That is how my does.
But get good photos of Elvis and the stage. If you can see the wall I am referring too in the clip I provided then some of that as well. Then I can tell you.

First off I don't know if I have Power DVD on this computer. If I did I would probably not know how to use it. (I am not very computer literate it is not my field of expertise). I have passed on the info that I have seen on this import "Elvis on Tour- Day by Day." If you know anyone who collects this stuff serious (such as the site you sent me to perhaps they have it) Its not that big a deal to me. It was just curious to me in this thread that someone said the Red Lion was only filmed in San Antonio and I recalled seeing this on an import. If it is great, if its not, fine. Happy hunting:D

Ok, but if anyone has that DVD and can provide photos or even that video clip of those two songs that is from Macon. Send them to me, I can then see if they are from Macon or not. Because I didn't know they release any of the Macon footage on the import market.

In Detroit Elvis wore the 1971 "White Pinwheel" while the band wore light blue suits.
In Macon Elvis wore the1971 "White Pinwheel" while the band wore dark brown suits.
In San Antonio Elvis wore the 1971 "White Pinwheel" while the band wore black suits.
Most of the video clip is from San Antonio, except a little piece that was taken from a distance (see picture below). That part is from Detroit. You can see the band wearing light blue suits.
There has been footage shot in Macon. Elvis arrival. He comes out of the limousine and walks toward the waiting fans, dressed in the the 1971 "Snowflake Suit" with black lined cape. Also backstage shots dressed in the 1971 "White Pinwheel" waiting to go on stage are from Macon.

Leroy as usual in the Elvis world nothing seems simple:D
If you have a chance and can get a copy of the import DVD
"Elvis on Tour Day by Day" they have clips listed as Macon Ga 2 songs, 10 minutes -and then later a section of San Antonio with about 20 minutes of footage his hair is styled different in San Antonio than in the supposed Macon footage.
Also In trying to figure out if this footage is from Macon I ran accross some pictures supposedly from Macon 4-15-72

Are these pictures actually from Macon? His hair looks similar to the footage supposedly from Macon Thanks KPM

KPM, I followed the link to the pictures. The first two pictures are indeed from Macon. I'm not shure about the third picture, mainly because it's been posted mirrored. The last one is from Detroit.

Remember that other thread re the picture ... no conclusion was reached.
The photographer, Ed Bonja, said he took it in San Antonio ... no one has come up with specific evidence to suggest otherwise.

Am I wrong in my memory it seems in EOT they show ELvis at the end of a concert in the Pinwheel suit from San Antonio with his cape stretched. It seems his hair is still fairly neat. I would have to try to find it on my VHS copies to be sure (another good reason to get a great DVD box set of EOT out) The picture Leroy says is Detroit his hair is fully down on his forehead in a mess.
