Two more deaths attributed to triple-digit temperatures
The latest casualty in the Memphis summer heat wave is an Elvis fan in town to observe the 30th anniversary of Presley’s death.
The victim — a 67-year-old New Jersey woman visiting Memphis for Elvis Week — became the seventh fatality of the oppressive heat that has cracked 100 degrees six days in a row.
She was found about 2 p.m. by family members in a tent where the temperature was 111 degrees. The tent was in an RV park behind the Heartbreak Hotel, near the Graceland mansion.
The woman had chronic health conditions but heat was a contributing factor to her death, according to Karen E. Chancellor, the Shelby County Medical Examiner.
Just after sunrise Wednesday, authorities learned of a sixth fatality, a 32-year-old man who was found dead near his apartment on Tillman. His body temperature was 109.4.

In all, seven people have died in Memphis in the last week since temperatures began to climb to record-setting triple digits.

The sixth person with a heat-related death was found Wednesday morning in Memphis, the Shelby County Medical Examiner said.

A 32-year-old man was found dead at 6 a.m. outside his apartment on Tillman.

His internal body temperature was 109 degrees. He didn’t have air conditioning but had a box fan that was not running.

The record-setting heat has contributed to the deaths of at least five other people in less than a week.

Awww :( So sad. My aunt lives in Memphis and my mom got to talk to her today. She says that there are people passing out because of the heat down there. I pray that there won't be anymore casualties.

Yes, and 1977 one 17-year old girl in Houston, Texas jumped out of the window of the 20th floor of a house and wrote "Elvis, i love you" with red lipstick on her body...
