View Full Version : "New music coming" says Robert FX Sillerman!
He says over the next 5 years that never before heard music is coming out. This man continues to amaze me.(y)
Another true believer is Robert F.X. Sillerman, CEO of CKX, which bought an 85% stake in Elvis Presley Enterprises in 2004. "The next five years will see an orderly release of new music, some never heard before," he says.

That'd be great , but they've been saying as far as never before heard songs go for a couple of years now that the well has run dry, so without yet reading the link , I suspect that this will mean re-mix and American Idol Duet type stuff , which isn't all bad . I liked the Little Less conversation, and Rubber Necking mixes and I didn't hate the American Idol thing though it wasn't a favorite of mine either.

I hope it's actual Elvis recording's like Bad Moon Rising etc.!!!:)(y):king:(y)
I only hope that he is not playing the same old game of alternate takes and of unheard concerts. They are never before heard but not really are they new music if we have many versions of the same songs. But lets hope there is something he knows that we don't and truely unreleased new songs are involved.

EPE has a tape in hands.. Home recordings of Elvis.. Charlie Hodge told that one time the tape recorder stood on.. Elvis did a vocal/acoustic version of ' I'll always love you'.

Joe Epsosito said in an interview when promoting his book Straight Up that he had a basement full of unreleased recordings in boxes waiting to be heard. I have no idea why this wasn't known until just recently. But it was good news to say the least. Now could this be what Bob Sillerman is referring to? Or is he referring to new reworked EP songs aimed at a new audience to promote the upcoming Vegas project? I guess time will tell. Obviously he has the money to back up any project.
I personally want a reworked 1969 sessions album. Both new and original version, upgraded.(y)

I personally think that there is still a lot of unreleased materal out there, what you have to remember is when elvis was in the studio getting ready to record he used to warm up by singing just about anything, im sure this must have been put onto tape somewhere.
Also when he was looking to record a new song he would have demos given to him, from which he would choose which one to record. There must be songs that he thought sounded good on the demos, but after he had recorded them realised he didnt realy like the way it came out so maybe after only one recording it was dismissed.Thats what i think anyway, does anyone agree..

That live version of Moody Blue was released years ago.The Baxter release called Moody Blue and Ohter Great Performances.Ftd has already released most of the alternate takes they have. What's left is mainly sounboards.I wouldnt expect anything major to come along. The 30th would have been the year if they had something truly special.

About 10 years ago there was a story on Elvis World Japan about a lost tape featuring EP songs from the outtakes of Loving You. They were found in Hal Wallis' basement of his California home. One of the lost songs was a new one called Detour and it was a duet with Kitty White, who sang with EP on Crawfish. This story wasn't fabricated either. However shortly afterwards, the entire story and historic find just vanished into thin air. Sounds to me the people who found it either wanted too much money for them or is saving them for the right time to be released.
So my point is that there are still some lost recordings out there that we the fans and the general public doesn't know about. Ernst has even said that there are some gems out there in the wrong hands. It is possible that FXS is buying these lost recordings and by doing this is getting rights to them and will allow RCA to release them in the coming years. But from his statements, and seeing what an impact he has had already, i am anxious and excited about this news!(y)

If thats true I suspect we'll end up seeing a bunch of lawsuits over who really owns them and how Joe came into possession of them, and who should get a piece of any money that'll be made from them .
Yes, Sillerman, the new Colonel Parker, even has plans for a "new" Elvis. Using an existing fan base, new technology to bring in the younger fans. Even has Lisa in on it. It's all about the image, always has been. The money and he knows there are plenty of suckers who believe if it has the name Elvis it has to be ok. "New" music, yeah right. Priscilla maybe, but I never thought Lisa would be in on something like this. Of course there will be the false sentiment, wouldn't be right without it. You all can have it, it makes me sick. Don' spend too much money ya'll.
I totally disagree. Bob Sillerman has done wonders for EP and his tarnished image to improve it. The "new Parker? Not hardly. Parker wouldn't have even spent a dime to do for EP as Sillerman has. Much less had the vision and effort to make it happen. Ever since Bob Sillerman took over EPE, EP has been in the spotlight and national media on a POSITIVE side at that more so than he was in the past 10 years before Sillerman took over. His investments and plans for EP and for Graceland and Las Vegas are groundbreaking. He is making EP the icon historic figure that EP should be seen as and not a carnival act as the Colonel turned him into.
Sillerman is the kind of leader EP should have had in his lifetime. A man with a plan and a vision to see that plan through.

Yes, Sillerman, appears to have set himself up as the new "All Elvis" grrrrrrr  and yes, I agree with you.
However, I try to put myself in Lisa's position, with respect and love, Lisa will be agreeing and allowing, what is advised by people with their University Degrees and years and years of successful business experience. They would be guiding her and in my opinion, advising her to keep up with the times, the cutting edge. (Think about how many older acts sing new songs with younger acts, as an example). Hey, every right to be angry, I would be too, but if you don't mind me saying, not with her as she loves her father dearly.
I sense that her mother has a huge influence over her; unfortunately, I feel her mother is incredibly convincing, to some. If Lisa only hears one side, you have to allow for that scenario. In my opinion, Lisa has the information she has been presented with, and works with that. Her intentions are through unconditional love. I feel that that is a given.

All will always be totally confidentialb, just me.
Oh, **************** it! You are gonna believe what you want to anyway.
No. I see things as they are and I see Bob Sillerman making an impact and creating interests in EP with his vision that wasn't there before him. You think this anniversary was something big to see. Then you and all the other fans haven't seen nothing yet. When the new state of the art hi-tech interactive museum and attractions (or as it's being billed, "Elvis World")is complete and opened, the frenzy will be at a new record high at Graceland with media coverage and fanfare of visitors.(y)

That's jus it rick, Joe revealed what he had already like 15 years ago and he already said they his tapes weren't in any shape to be released onto a music format until lots of work, (i.e. Mastering), were done before they would be considered sonically sufficient to release on a major project.

I remember years ago; Joe E. came out with a DVD with some home movies of Elvis and others. There was no sound, just Joe talking.
It was said then Priscilla got upset with him about that and they were "on the outs" over it. I never looked to see if any of that was true or not.
Evidently, they've made up since, if it was ever true.
I've never heard Joe had any music recordings; which means absolutely nothing ; as I don't know everything. ;) Far from it.

Elvis' image is only tarnished in the eyes of people who don't get what THEY want (i.e. duet albums, remix albums, theme parks, etc. etc.). They want everything for the "youth" market and nothing for us "old" fans who will be dead soon and will not be able to buy anything anyway.:D

So Einstein explain why Garth Brooks passed up EP? I'll tell you why. It's because all RCA cares only about making what little money they can off of the die hard fans who have to own every single release put out no matter if it is the same ole songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. You really think they care about Brooks surpassing him? No they don't. Lisa and Priscilla may. But not RCA. Bob Sillerman does have interest and has invested hundreds of millions of $$$$$$ into EP. He can't sell EP and his new attractions if the music isn't selling also. So expect him to have a huge hand in the future projects by RCA. I don't mean every one of 'em. I mean the big money makers, such as a remix or remake album, duets album (now most likely) or a dance remix album (like A Little Less Conversation). Apparently FXS (that's Bob Sillerman since you had not figured it out by now) has some part in the upcoming releases since it was his quote and comment I got it from.

Amazing you a Lakeisha are so fixated on Garth Brooks passing Elvis. I still don't see how that tarnishes Elvis' image so you still haven't answered that.
Is FXS something you came up with? You're the only one I see typing that.
Again, everything in the above post is pure speculation by our buddy Jay that he AGAIN tries to pass off as fact.
You want a tarnished image for Elvis? Ruin his music by coming up with smoke and mirrors idea like remixes, duets and theme parks, that should do the trick.
How many times do you have to be banned before you change your tune and stop instigating?
By the way, Brooks passed Elvis because he is STILL alive, no shame in that. RCA/EPE has no blame in that.

Bigger, yes, but only in terms of things like media coverage, visitors to Graceland etc.
But in terms of music releases? 2007 was pathetic! More compilations and blah blah blah.

Okay, I'll have to recall my days studying quantum physics and mathematics, but ...
... it was because more people purchased more records of Garth Brooks than Elvis Presley.

You are on a roll!!!! LOVING IT! So true so true! Everything we got for the 30th was re-hashed & re-packaged. Did anyone take a look at the packaging for the "This Is Elvis" and the other movies, you had to look for the TITLE to know what it was you were buying as they all had the same color scheme, etc...they couldn't even give us creative packaging.
Oh wow, would that not just be FANTASTIC, a new remix by JXL....aaaahhhh dreamland.:) Lisa said she is very careful about who she allows to do remixes, but I think that's only on the songs EPE owns or owned, I wonder if Sillerman will be easier to deal w/on that?

Exactly, when I went to purchase "This Is Elvis" I got so stoked because I thought I'd found it, only to see that nope, another movie title...so when I did find it, I read it very very carefully to be positive. LOL
And that's what I mean, you said it better though, they looked almost identical, and if they were going (and did) give us re-hashed merchandise, the least they could have done was give us pretty and unique packaging, maybe then to the price wouldn't have been so hard to take. LOL

To be fair, I think the consistent blue packaging was the result of the owners of the footage, Warner Bros, and nothing to do with EPE.
I actually preferred this type of consistency, but I'm anal like that.
For instance, here in Australia, they'll release the first two or three series of a TV show with one style of packaging, then switch to a thin type of DVD packaging. It drives me up the wall. Then later they release the first two or three series with the new packaging. Frasier, Cheers and Bewitched are prime examples in my collection. I sold off my first copies of these when the new packaging came out, because I prefer consistency when looking at them on my DVD shelves.
And yes, it is a mild form of OCD and I'm fine with that!
