BRINGING ELVIS BACK.
Elvis is being brought back from the dead to walk the corridors of Graceland again.
The new owners of Presley? mansion intend to ?reincarnate? the legendary star using state-of-the-art computer techniques developed for Hollywood movies.
The sensational ?15million project will be announced on Thursday ? the 30th anniversary of Elvis? death.
The movie is part of a ?125m boost for the lavish Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, aimed at doubling the number of visitors ? currently 600,000 a year.
The Daily Star Sunday can also reveal there are plans for a new movie based on Elvis? life.
Goodfellas star Ray Liotta, 52, is being lined up to play Elvis at the end of his life.
But film bosses are still looking for an up-and coming actor to play the younger version.
Robert Sillerman, boss of American company CKX, bought majority rights to Presley?s image and name from his daughter Lisa Marie two years ago.
He said the new images of the King at Graceland will have visitors believing they are seeing the real thing.
Sillerman said: ?Short of Elvis returning from the dead, it will be as true to life as anything ever produced.
?People will actually think Elvis is there. His image will actually appear solid and human they?ll experience exactly what it?s like to be up close and personal with the King.?
Sillerman?s company hired members of movie director Michael Bay?s ?Geek Army?, who helped create mesmerising special effects for the blockbuster ?Transformers?.
Tens of thousands of miles of archive footage of Elvis will be scanned into amonster computer main frame so technicians can create lifelike images of the King walking, talking and singing.
And the Daily Star Sunday has learned the company will portray Elvis at various stages of his life.
During his Hound Dog era in the fifties and early sixties, fans will see a lean, mean, hip-thrusting sex symbol.
They will also see Presley the movie icon, possibly mingling with other stars of the era such as James Dean, Marlon Brando and Tony Curtis, who will also be computer generated ?house guests?.
There will also be the Elvis of the 70s. The CKX source said: ?There will be nothing that insults his memory. But we are going to stick to the truth to let him tell his story ? in person ? of how it really was.?
I told my wife about 10 years ago that one day you will be able to get new performances, of new songs by Elvis (or any dead entertainer) through advances in the computer world. I have heard the voice end is the hardest part of making this happen, because to get a true Elvis sound every single note he ever sang or said would have to be entered into database. 5 years ago I heard someone was working on doing just that and I assumed it was hype. Now it sounds like this is getting pretty close. It would be amazing to me if in my lifetime this could become reality.

Thanks for posting Jen, the article was very interesting - I just don't know how I feel about it.

I just don't know how I feel about it.
Well, I do!
I've said it before and I'll say it again ... Graceland is becoming Disneyland II!!
Are they thinking of projecting "Elvis" around Graceland itself??!! Bizarre.
As for another movie ... no way. The Elvis story has been told before in several different forms. And, unless they are really honest about his final years (especially how he died and under what circumstances) then it is pointless. If they could do it as well as Walk the Line or Ray, then it may be okay ... but I seriously doubt it.
"They will also see Presley the movie icon, possibly mingling with other stars of the era such as James Dean, Marlon Brando and Tony Curtis, who will also be computer generated “house guests”. - My God, how AWFUL!!!
Tacky, tacky, tack-YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

It might look cool once done.

I'm leaning towards "bizarre" as posted by srj. I guess I'm just tired of all the people who are still making millions if not billions of dollars off a man who gave so much while he was alive and have so little respect and feeling for him. He's nothing but a marketing commodity to them.

I have to say that with the new generation coming though graceland, they might need to add things to keep the younger crowd. I don't think it is a bad idea but the older generation is going to be upset about this, but l guess you can't please everybody.

Sillerman has really crossed the line with this concept...I think it's distasteful, disrepectful, and hurtful. My gosh, just think how his image could be manipulated with something like this. Really sad, in my opinion.

I think they are looking at the future and how to keep bringing people back. The younger crowd won't want to see the same thing they have seen before, l don't find nothing wrong with this idea, l'am all for it.

In one sense, it would thrilling to catch a glimpse of Elvis lurking behind a door or something, looking out at the fans...? :hmm: But I agree with those who think that there are too many "money makers" involved in Graceland these days! Where will they draw the line????

The younger generation may think "wow" with something like this, but as you said, "you can't please everybody." And EPE wants to draw the younger crowd, ones with more disposable income. I personally could not stand to see that.

I agree with most of you. This has nothing to do with keeping Elvis' memory alive. They want to keep drawing people to keep their bank accounts alive.
In a few years all of the original fans that knew him will be gone and to the succeeding generations he'll just be a myth, a legend and a curiousity. It's the continuation of making him into a joke as well that really bothers - he deserved so much more!

You are right.
And if the youth doesn't want to see Graceland like it is now, who cares??? Oh I forgot.....money! :lmfao:
I guess I have a different take on this. If it truely looked and sounded like Elvis with no glitches I would want to see it. We are never going to see anything new by the live Elvis. The next best thing would be this-if it truely looks and sounds like him. If they put every single move he ever made that was on film and every vocal performance into a computer it would react as if he would-in theory. Bizarre to some maybe but I just don't see it like that. But let me say this if they do perfect this I don't want to see his image doing-dog food commercials or ads for toilet paper etc...to me that would be the tacky end of it. And that would be a road I can see the idea going.
Is this just to make money-lets face it everything Elvis is to make money. Anyone who writes a book or a magazine article, or makes a video wants to make money from it. I don't always like it but its fact. I would reserve full judgment until it actually happens and you can see how its used and how well it actually works. But its just my opinion.
