I also need a list of favourite soundtracks, because I can't narrow it down to just one:

(in no particular order):

1) Harum Scarum
2) Roustabout
3) Change Of Habits (!)
4) Fun In Acapulco
5) Frankie And Johnny

In no particular order:

Harem Scarum - cool songs in an unusual style.
G.I. Blues - a great pop album.
King Creole - a fantastic record!
Fun In Acapulco - some splendid, timeless classics with the title song and I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here.

Personally, I like at least a few songs from each soundtrack. I made a tape of my favourites which is a fun listen.

Live A Little, Love A Little (short but sweet)

In no particular order:

GI Blues (always makes me happy and reminds me of the good old days)

Fun In Acapulco (He does those Spanish songs like no one, except for Julio Iglesias maybe :D )

Charro! (no, just kidding)

Viva Las Vegas (because of some nice rockers and I Need Somebody To Lean On, which is i.m.o. his most jazziest recording)

Phew, I was a little afraid to say "Clambake", but since Bobby did already, I know I'm safe, lol! I love the songs from that movie! And besides, Elvis looks really cute with chubby cheeks, lol!!!

GREAT QUESTION!! My list would contain (in no particular order)...

* CLAMBAKE (thanks for breaking the ice on that one Bobby!!)
* PARADISE HAWAIIAN STYLE (just a neat soundtrack)
* FUN IN ACAPULCO (right on Sonny!)
* LIVE A LITTLE, LOVE A LITTLE (like Bobby said...short but sweet!)
* CHANGE OF HABIT (have always loved the title track)
* DOUBLE TROUBLE (I know 'Old McDonald' is on there, but 'City By Night' is just TOO cool)
* HARUM SCARUM (see below...)

I think some of Elvis' soundtrack material is VERY underrated!! And some of the great songs he did in the movies are often overlooked because of some of the lesser-quality songs featured in the movies/on the soundtracks. A PERFECT example is "The Girl I Never Loved" from CLAMBAKE. That is just such a pretty song...one of the best movie ballads, in my opinion. But because of some of the other lesser quality songs on the soundtrack like "Confidence" and "Hey, Hey, Hey" which are often badly criticized (and unjustly so, I may add), the beautiful songs from that film like "The Girl I Never Loved" are overlooked!

Another soundtrack which is often looked down upon is HARUM SCARUM...but there are some really great songs on that album! Although that is one of Elvis' movies that I don't usually watch too often as it is not a favorite of mine, I think the soundtrack is MUCH better than many people give it credit for. But because many people feel the movie is sub-par, I think they automatically assume the soundtrack is sub-par as well, and I think if those people would listen to the soundtrack and separate the music from the movie, they would probably have a different opinion of the music from that film!

What a GREAT question to ask Curtis!

Thank's mike.

Some Elvis movies are really good, and some are bad to the bone,

like "Easy come,Easy Go" is really bad movie for Elvis, imo

Sonny

I always thought Easy Come Easy Go was a bad movie, but since I've watched the dvd I'm not so sure anymore...

Agreed, it features Yoga Is As Yoga Does (an absolute low in his singing career) but - call me a fool - it does make me laugh when I see it during the movie.

Easy Come even has some sort of story and it even has some suspense, if that isn't a too big a word for that diving and bomb searching stuff.

The real lowpoint i.m.o is Captain Jack...

Sonny

By the way, the title track is a real rockin' tune, with that nice guitar solo. Too bad the setting is strange, to say the least...

Sonny, I have to agree with you on that one. He looks so funny doing those yoga moves! Kinda sexy though too, lol.

Yes I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this dvd. It also gave a pretty good feel of the 60's.

I will always love the soundtracks for the 4 movies he did in the 50s and right now I'm in love with Spinout's - when they do all those "butt angles" :) Never saw parts move like that before... ;) , Flaming Star, and Viva Las Vegas. I clean my room to "C'mon Everybody."

I think the only bad song in an Elvis movie was "Your Groovy Self". And that was sung by Nancy Sinatra. "He's Your Uncle Not Your Dad" was way better than that one...

Mine are:

1. Fun In Acapulco (Just love the mexican feeling in the songs)
2. Harum Scarum (Most people hate it but I love the diffrent sound)
3. Frankie and Johnny (Elvis goes Dixieland)
4. King Creole (Elvis goes Dixieland)
5. Roustabout (Not a bad soundtrack at all)

NEA

1. Loving You
2. King Creole
3. G. I. Blues
4. Viva Las Vegas
5. Jailhouse Rock
6. Live A Little, Love A Little
7. Spinout
8. Change Of Habit
9. Tickle Me
10. Blue Hawaii

The other soundtrack I rate that would probably be number 11 in my list is "Kissin' Cousins". Plus, "Wild In The Country" hosts a nice few numbers too. I don't have any other real favourite soundtracks only favourite songs that stand-out from a lot of the dross and non-sensical tunes that appear with them in the movies and on the albums.
