Now i am not normally known for my review talents  in fact i can never recall me doing any others

I just love the early part of 1974. I think that the shows were awesome and Elvis was in terrific form.

Anyhow...here it is...don't you be cruel now and laugh :'(

Hello Memphis Review by NightRider.

Rock Legends March 6th 1974.

You sure can tell straight away when Elvis enters the stage.
The crowd go nuts...screams everywhere!

See See Rider begins and from the very start you know you are
in for a treat. Man Elvis is on form. He vocals seem strong,
more so than throughout the shows from the last couple of
years....kind of deeper...back towards the almost incomparable
1969/1970.
It?s a great strong version. Elvis means it if you know what
i mean. He wasn't just singing as he did so often in later
concerts.
"Hello Memphis" Elvis says as the song draws to an end. Again
the Memphis crowd appreciate their favourite son.

I Got A Woman begins in great style. Strong and clear. Great
Version which blows away the later versions of this cracker..
Amen continues...with a fair (according to Elvis) ending
by J.D Sumner.
"It?s a pleasure to be here for the first time in a very long
time" Says Elvis. "ok i will turn around" he continues...as
the crowd erupts into life once more.

Love Me...Nice version. Nothing overly special. But a good
Version all the same.

"This next song is about the third song i ever recorded at
Sun Records"...as a terrific version of Trying To Get To You
begins. I have heard it better...Elvis giving a little more on
"When i read your lovin' letter"...but not much better.
The man is on form...of that there can be no doubt.

All Shook Up. Certainly not even close to what these old
50's classics turned into in later years. Elvis is still
Interested and sings in very well. Good version.

Then onto one of my favourite live tracks from this period.
..the excellent Steamroller Blues. I love this version.
Elvis' deeper, fuller voice suits the song even more than
the geat versions from the aloha shows. Better than those
in my opinion. Elvis goes for it...even the wails through
the instruments show that Elvis is geared up. I would love
to hear this in perfect quality. Soundboards are great. But
do not always give you the whole story.

Teddy Bear....one of the lowlights for me. Elvis is not that
interested in the song...though he improves as it goes on.
I often wonder why he didn't drop some of these...Don't Be
Cruel follows...which is alot better. Again...not the best i
ever heard...but a decent version.

" My first movie was....Love Me Tender " Nice version...screams
obviously follow Elvis everywhere...but its a good complete
version...something you won't always find during an Elvis
Live show.

Cracking version of Johnny B Goode Follows. Ok..not quite as
good as the 1970 versions...but this ain't at all bad...

Good Rocky...if short version of Hound Dog....there are some
Fabulous versions of this live...and some real stinkers..
this one would be in the middle...

Fever....great version...when listening to this...you can
picture the smile can't you. That grin...when he shouts...
"ELVIS"...and includes some sort of monkey immitation !
And he needs a haircut....good version.

Polk Salad...what can i say...this rates easily as highly
as the 1970 versions....terrific !

Why Me Lord. I just love this song. Especially the verse when
Elvis joins in. A powerful, yet moving song...very well performed
by JD and co...

Suspicious Minds...i don't think you can ever better the
1970 versions of this...but this is a decent version. Another
where i would like to hear the true sound.

The Introductions follow......

"You know what i can't do ?"....." Sing and drink water at the
same time! " as the band begin to play...."We Love You !!" a
female voice shouts from the crowd..and Elvis replies " I Love
you too honey! "

Can't Stop loving you begins....I don't think Elvis performs
this any better than in early 1974. Full of power...great version.

Help Me....very under-rated song in my opinion. I think its a
great tune...and very well suited for Elvis to perform Live...
..which he does with ease here. Very close to the studio version
and just about preferred by me.

The song of any Elvis show which never fails to tingle the
Spine is An American Trilogy. Always awesome...did he ever do
a bad version ? I don't recall ever hearing one. This is one of
the better versions. He is hot. His voice is superb. There
aren't many..if any could perform this as well as Elvis does.
And this version is right up there with the best from '72.
Would have loved to have heard a studio version.....

Some people believe that Elvis should have never performed
this on stage...Let Me Be There...is not an Elvis track..well
if you ask me...it is. He makes it his own. Terrific version
and a song that i could listen to him sing time and time again.
I love it ! Its a 'make you happy' song that you just can't help
sing along to....
I really enjoy it..and i think the crowd do too listening to
their response...followed by a reprise....terrific !

Funny how time slips away...and it is...we are almost at the
end of the show. How sad i would have been..knowing that there
wouldn't be much left when Elvis had the houselights turned on.
Good version....as always...but you know what's coming next...

Can't Help Falling In Love...always signalling that the end was
in sight....

The end of a very highly recommended show. Elvis in great form as
he was all of the early part of 1974. If you don't have any
of the shows...i would have though most have the official
Memphis release in one form or other...then do yourself a huge
Favour and find one or two....and this is one that would not
disappoint......

Question to NightRider:

I haven't heard this show and was curious how you would rate it, strictly performance-wise, up against those featured on Event Number 8 (Houston 3/3, 2 pm) and Guaranteed To Blow Your Mind (Richmond 3/18), and the officially released Memphis show.
