We've had a few cracked bones of late in our family, lol (well you have to laugh, cause no-one cares, lol).
Does anyone know if Elvis had any cracked or broken bones?

He had broken his little finger once. He told that during the show on September 28, 1974 in College Park, Maryland. Here is that audio, left click and play it:
http://jordans-elvis-world.com/audio/profile2/33.ram
He tells the story about half way on this track.
I can say I have never had a broken or crack bone in my body yet. I am only 25 so it hasn't happen to me yet. I have had a finger go out of joint and I put it back into the joint.

Thanks I'll have a listen, wonder if there are more incidents? (From the Martial Arts?).
LOL, are you around horses ElvisLennon?
:jawdrop:
I hadn't cracked or broken any either, until this year, but it was good, I had dinner made for me, lol, I could sit back and ask people to do things, liked it, lol (joking).
:D

I didn't know about Elvis having any cracked or broken bones but I do recall reading something about him either breaking a tooth or losing a cap - not sure which I think while on location for one of his movies.
I broke a big toe when I was 16 or 17 running into a doorway in the middle of the night lol.
I do know what you are talking about dealing with horses. My old guy died two years ago in his middle 30's. I still miss him.

Hi Diane,
Thanks re that, the cap was during "Jailhouse Rock", I believe?
I forgot, I did my big toe too, lol (how could I forget...oh that's right, no-one cares, rofl (y)). Up a ladder painting, then I was really game and started balancing, lol.
The the beginning of the year, I cracked my ulna (elbow area) embarrassingly, I slipped forward in mud {the one day we weren't in drought, lol} while feeding the horses.
I wanted to share with you, as I thought it funny, my cranky mare decided to have a go at the foal, and here I am with one arm, balancing on a slope, feed in one hand, arm not in a sling (it was itchy and in the wrong spot for me, lol) and I decided to wave this damaged arm at her, to stop her being rude and going for the food and the foal, and I couldn't, it was this floppy wave, lol, grrrrrr.... cranky thing she is, lol.
She wouldn't ever have done that with me normally, so I found it really odd (interesting, too) that she did that when I was hurt. My horses have lovely manners. (Hormones? lol).
Someone else's horse, at a later time, came up and sniffed my arm, he knew! Amazing huh, and lovely! (I admit, he and I spend a lot of time blowing in each other's noses, hehe, 'tis our "hello").
I'm sorry you lost your horse, Diane, that is heartbreaking, When the subject comes up, I think about my first horse dieing, gosh, 25 years ago "Sandstorm".
I have a horse for sale, pity you are so far away, one cranky, lame mare! lol
Hugs,
Jess

If you look closely to one of the pictures on the "G.I. Blues" album you can spot a picture where he's playing a guitar. His right hand is swollen like a baloon.
The same thing if you look at the pictures of the September 1974 karate period, wearing his white uniform. His right hand is also swollen.

I have a picture in an old magazine somewhere of Elvis, circa '57 from memory, with his left arm bandaged or in a sling, and surrounded by about four women.
Wish I could find it. Anyone know the pic I'm talking about?
I've just hit 40, and no broken bones yet. And no fillings in the teeth either! :P

Recall Elvis breaking his pinky during a football game with the guys, somewhere round 56 or 57.

I thought that was in 1960/1961. Although he was wearing a 1956 shirt with EP logo on it.

Thanks for the photos and articles, everyone, this is interesting.
I had to laugh at all the nurses filing in and out, taking Elvis' temperature.
Haven't things changed, with regard to Elvis being kept in overnight, where I believe now, in the States, are you sent in and out of hospital, like it is a revolving door.
I wonder if there were more broken (or cracked or displaced) bones during Elvis' Karate days?
Thanks,
Jess
P.S. Am I the only one who couldn't open the Jordan's Elvis World link? Thanks Meg, could just be my firewall.......grrrrrrr......lol :)

Hi KPM,
I noticed that that one scarred, it must have been deepish?
Also, in the context of injuries, there was of course, the concussion.
I was just reading on AEK  Marty Lacker (I won't ask him, unless someone else wants to) saying he and Billy were at Elvis' bedside that first night on Doctor's orders.
Where was 'Cilla? Why wasn't she staying with Elvis, fussing over him? I find that really odd, if true.

This is not entirly true. Elvis got wounded above the eye because of a karate practise between friends the night before. That's how he got wounded. The used the stunt in the movie to "explain" the wound.
By the way; he did the stunt himself.
Diane

Thanks Leroy for that information. I hadn't realized that the wound was ever real.(y)

I read recently, perhaps on one of the Elvis sites (Elvis Australia or the like, can't remember) that Elvis completed a stunt on the set, and it happened then?
I also remember seeing a photo somewhere, where people were attending to the cut, I don't know, just thought I'd share what I read.
(Goes to show how many stories there are out there).

And we are gratefull you did Jess. But within the Elvis World there are two things we have to be careful with. Facts and myths. There are a lot of stories that have been made up just to make Elvis look better. A lot of these stories are coming from official sources.
Now there is no need to make Elvis look better because he was good enough.
This is not entirly true. Elvis got wounded above the eye because of a karate practise between friends the night before. That's how he got wounded. The used the stunt in the movie to "explain" the wound.

Sorry Leroy but I got the info from the Book "Elvis Day by Day" on page 196-197 they have a picture of Elvis on the set of Roustabout blood streaming down his cheek and the caption reads:
"On the set of Roustabout just after completing a stunt March 11, 1964"
On page 195 it tells how ELvis begged John Rich the director to do his own fight scene and promised to take full responsiblity if there is an accident. It states there is an accident and Elvis is mortified so they come up with the idea he could wear a bandaid to cover the stitches because of the Motorcycle crash at the start of the movie. If I had not seen the picture which is obviously on location I would not be so sure.
I was able to upload the picture to the gallary in the Roustabout movie section but its kind of small. the first time I tried to upload it said the image was to large-but you can make it out.
Thanks to Tommy for telling me the picture of Elvis with the blood running down his cheek is on page 6 in the movie section under Roustabout. thanks Tommy

Then at least I'm partly true. The wound was not caused by the motor cycle stunt. It was caused by a fight. Only the locations of the fight was not correct. Thank you for clearing this up.
Its kind of funny that with all the movie stunt fights Elvis did, the one time he assures the director that he won't get hurt-he gets hurt! He must have been really embarrassed.

Especially after reading about all the firecracker "fights" the boys had, or in Colorado on those ski-mobiles! No broken bones for me, but a lot of bad sprains and twisted ankles! - I'm not the most graceful sort :lmfao: :lmfao:
