I can't seem to find the thread of the similar title, so I started a new one. If somebody can locate the old one, I'll delete this one. If it's staring me in the face, I apologize.
Anyway, I'm in the middle of a second run-through of Disc 4 of Today, Tomorrow, And Forever.
How about the great take 1 of Pieces Of My Life, or the duet with Armond Morales on A Thing Called Love, or the new (ad-libbed?) verse on I'll Be Home On Christmas Day, or the especially touching I Miss You? Man, what a great CD.
Generally speaking, I'm a Disc 4 kind of guy. (y)

While making dinner, I listened the 4th disc of the "Live In Las Vegas" boxset (BMG). I really enjoyed it. The live version of "My Boy" is simply stunning. Also other live versions or rare songs like "It's Midnight" and "I'm Leaving" not only enjoy me because they are so rare, but even more because they simply are beautiful :D

I have more than just 1 cd that i listen to..
My fav. are:
* Rhythm and country (this cd is my all time fav.)
* An afternoon in the garden (prob. the best Live elvis cd out there)
* Elvis: 30 #1 hits and 2nd to none ( due the fact that these cd have the best sound quality ever)
* Live in Las Vegas Boxset ( a stunning overview of Elvis in Vegas)
* Both baxter boxsets (a profile on stage) (I believe that RCA can learn from this release, better they should release something in the same style)

I just got back from Memphis (y) , and probably the CD I spent the most time listening to in the car was Rhythm And Country.
From Elvis In Memphis also got some play, as did The Lost Album (For The Asking).
I bought Polk Salad Annie at Graceland, and I'm sorry to say I wasn't as thrilled with that as I thought I would be. At any rate, it makes a nice companion to the On Stage upgrade. Now I'm not complaining; I'm just saying I wasn't as taken with it as most others seem to be. No biggie.

I'm listening to several songs, because I'm trying to get the downloaded albums in order. So I hear many albums. My favouriet albums, though are the gospelalbums and the studio rehearsals and ofcourse the live albums. If I'm not able to listen to Elvis I try to sing them myself, although I must admit that I often only can sing most song when I hear Elvis. I keep forgetting the lyrics. Must be the age. Lol.

thanks NR, it is a great shows :) probably one of the best elvis shows on CD, despite the year 1975...2 years before he's gone. :'(
some of Elvis' best shows came out of 74-75. My favourite live year is 1970..but 1974 comes oh so close. (y)
Elvis was great throughout the years live...and yes that includes 76 and 77.....ok the performances did tend to be more up and down in the last two years....but there are still fantastic shows to be found.
1974 was an exceptional year..all but towards the end of the year :'( thats when you could see what could, and eventually did happen to the greatest entertainer the world would ever see.
1975 seemed more consistant...if less outstanding...but the 'Just Pretend' show remains one of the best ( well, one of my favourites anyhow (y) )

Today it's been the Jungle Room Sessions FTD for me. That CD was such a revelation when it came out, but it's no less of a treat to me today. The clarity is so striking, and it seems to me that other recent releases with Jungle Room material don't have the same warmth and ambience heard on that disc. :hmm: Elvis's vocals sound even better, and nearly equally as pleasing is the sound of the core band. It's not just the fact that you can hear them--that they are not drowned out by the horns and strings, but what they were actually playing was just so darn good. Really some beautiful work had been covered up for so long. (I know these are different takes, but you get my point.) You really notice it on some of the opening notes. These takes just really give them a whole new life; they are more effective, and seem to hit home a little better. Listen to the beginnings of songs like Love Coming Down, The Last Farewell, It's Easy For You, Never Again--whew! I mean the songs are great all the way through, but I guess you notice the difference so much more in the beginnings because Elvis is not singing yet and because they made for awesome, new, first impressions.

Always On My Mind
Separate Ways
Fool
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Just Can't Help Believin'
and a few other tearjerkers
I just love this cassette!
