Elvis/Rick Nelson football games

I just recently was given a box set of the Nelson family TV show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" On one episode it had commentary by David Nelson, Rick Nelsons older brother, and Sam Nelson, Rick Nelsons youngest son. In it Sam Nelson says he was told by Kent McCord (an actor) who played on Ricks football team against Elvis's team in Hollywood that Ricks team had a number of "ringers". Some were pro players from the then Los Angelas Rams. His quote was, "they crushed Elvis and his mob from Memphis"
Also that Elvis had heard of Ricks team and decided to challenge "Little Ricky Nelson" because he thought it would be easy to beat him.
I always have read Rick Nelson and Elvis had liked each other and had respect for each other. This commentary did not make it sound that way.
Anyone else know anything on this.

The way I've always heard it, was that it was a Joke played by Ricky Nelson on Elvis and that Elvis and the guys took it as such. Red West has talked about this many times on radio interviews and he's always laughing as he recalls it . They all say that Elvis liked and got along well with Nelson. Awhile ago though I posted asking if any photos of the two existed, and nobody seemed to know of any.
