Interview with Wanda Jackson about Elvis

The queen of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, was recently in Australia for her first tour here in 35 years. I spoke to her last week, and here is the link to the interview.

Saw her play on Saturday night in a dingy club in the roughest part of Sydney, and she was great. The place went off. She talked about Elvis a lot, and sang Good Rockin' Tonight; Baby, Let's Play House and Heartbreak Hotel. She also did a medley of Rip It Up / Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On and of course her biggest hit, Party (twice).

I met her after the show, and she was kind enough to sign an album for me (see attached pic). I'd listened to that LP ever since I could remember, and it used to belong to my late mother.

So I've just played Wanda's I Remember Elvis CD.

It's great. At 69, this woman still rocks! (y)

The album has a killer version of Mystery Train on it too.

Final track is a lengthy monologue from Wanda telling the story of she and Elvis, greatly expanding on what you read in that interview.

thanks ajr for posting that interview it was vey well done, isn't it great to hear from other stars that started with him to say the things wanda said about him before his life got really complicated just to know that he was a kind and polite person and that most who met him liked him and they should know they were there thanks again ajr

That's srj that did that interview ....;) but, yes he did good, didn't he??

I didn't remember Wanda Jackson......so, I had to go to her website to hear her sing. I kinda remember the song, but I didn't listen to that music back then. It's very nice to hear someone say nice things , always.....:D
