View Full Version : That's The Way It Is...Live
I was listening to some of EP's studio songs done live such as Stranger In The Crowd and Next Step Is Love and I started to think what a great album this would be for the mainstream. My idea would be to take the original album That's The Way It Is and redo it for an updated version only with live songs instead. The new title would be called That's The Way It Is...Live similar to what The Beatles did with Let It Be...Naked. The songs would only be the songs recorded for the original LP done live and some bonus songs from August 1970. Unfortunately two songs Mary In The Morning and How The Web Was Woven were not recorded live by RCA. This could be a respectable hit on the album charts for a live album and show that EP wasn't some lounge act in Vegas. This would be my set list highlighting the lesser known material excluding the oldies hits.
1.I Just Can't Help Believin'
2.Twenty Days And Twenty Nights
3.Patch It Up
4.Just Pretend
5.Stranger In The Crowd
6.You've Lost That Loving Feeling (extended full version)
7.I've Lost You
8.The Next Step Is Love
9.You Don't Have To Say You Love Me
10.Mystery Train/Tiger Man (bonus)
11.Words (bonus)
12.Something (bonus)
13.Sweet Caroline (bonus)
14.Don't Cry Daddy (bonus)
15.In The Ghetto (bonus)
16.Polk Salad Annie (bonus)
17.Suspicious Minds bonus)
18.Bridge Over Troubled Water
This idea is more creative and better for marketing purposes instead of the Viva Las Vegas live 2-CD set they are planning to rehash I mean release this year.

As I seem to recall, their is a tie in to market and distribute the new "Viva Las Vegas" 2 cd set with a tv special coming in September.
Sony/BMG is also planning on releasing a complete unreleased concert from 1969 with this set, so, exactly, how can you be pessimistic about such a thing ?
And your idea, actually not a bad idea, consists of all previously released material, so wouldn't that be technically considered a "rehash"?
Think about it ...
And another thing, "creative and better" stated in your reply EP75 should be addressed and clarified with a "In My Honest Opinion" quote, yes ?

I will play your little game too.
1)There has been no indication of some type of "tie-in" with a tv special. Please show proof of that.
2)The tracks wouldn't be rehashed to the general public as will the 2-CD set which features the entire Live in Vegas CD that was released to mark a milestone of Las Vegas. My idea would be fresh and feature the best sounding live recordings that will ever exists on record by RCA.
3)I think my idea speaks volumes in creativity compared to what RCA puts out without any creativity.

From ABC Medianet:
"Elvis: Viva Las Vegas"
Airing on Wednesday, September 12 at 9:00 p.m., ET
For the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, ABC News is producing a two-hour TV event in High Definition that will examine how the King of Rock-and-Roll re-invented Las Vegas, and how it re-invented him. Top recording stars of 2007 perform Elvis' Vegas classics, woven in with previously unreleased music and documentary footage -- never-before-seen-film of Elvis' Vegas years.
Unlike you, I can back up my claims.
Still waiting for you to do the same ...

Again, it's only your "subjective" opinion Jay ... Do you even comprehend what that means ?
And yes, those 1970 tracks would be rehashed because they have been released many times before.
The tracks used for the Live in Vegas cd have only been used for 2 mainstream releases in the past, and besides, the disc you chose to mention as a milestone to Vegas was in conjunction and leased to Capital/EMI.
3)I think my idea speaks volumes in creativity compared to what RCA puts out without any creativity.
Again, how many times must I preach and teach you about being subjective about illogical logic?
I guess the old cliche "Can't teach an old dog new tricks" heavily applies in this instance.
Hey genius, show me where it says that the ABC special which I already posted here last week, says anything about a tie-in to an RCA release? And the 1970 August vegas tracks have only been released ONE TIME and that was on That's The Way It Is Special Edition 2 CD set and Live In Las Vegas box set. I'm not as dumb as you want to believe. But I can't say the same for you.:flex:

No, they were released only once on two separate releases that were not the same songs but from the same set of shows. So yes they have been released only once compared to the upcoming set that features a complete CD released count it, 3 times now on three different releases. Sure I understand that theya re releasing yet ANOTHER 1969 show. How many times have we heard the 1969 concerts before? Yes they are great shows, but let's be real. RCA acts like that is all they have to offer is August 1969 and February 1970. In my honest opinion the August 1970 shows were his finest ever caught on tape by RCA.

This a great thread, members though, you need to be more respectful of each other while addressing these issues.

So which is it ? confused ? :lmfao:
To give credit where credit is due, I did mention that I thought EP75's idea was actually pretty good, but it's just his overall pessimistic "I have all the creative and better" ideas attitude against BMG that turns alot of people off.
He also must not comprehend what the term "Subjectivity" means, where, ya know, one man's coffee is another's man's tea ...
I'm not as dumb as you want to believe.
Hey, if the shoe fit's ... ;)

fearful of the truth I see ?
All I post here is thoughts and opinions based on facts and when I get into a debate about it and I'm onto another, the other charcater starts the argument, then backpeddles and reports me to the moderator because he has been called out and is feeling insecure , embarrassed and troubled, they want to ban me ......
