Jonathan Rhys Meyers, star of Showtime?s The Tudors, has entered a rehab facility, his rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

?After a non-stop succession of filming, Jonathan Rhys Meyers has entered an alcohol-treatment program,? rep Meredith O?Sullivan says. ?He felt a break was needed to maintain his recovery.?

The 29-year-old actor, who costarred with Scarlett Johansson in Woody Allen?s Match Point last year, plays Henry VIII in The Tudors, which premiered on April 1, and recently finished filming the drama August Rush with Keri Russell, Terrence Howard and Robin Williams.

Meyers?s rep adds: ?Jonathan plans to resume his schedule following completion.?

This sounds like a very proactive way for Jonathan to be at his best mentally and physically right before he starts filming the second season of ?The Tudors?. This is also a chance for him to get some much needed rest before resuming his demanding schedule.

Ah well. I'm sorry that this guy got you Elvis-fans upset. I am gay and wouldn't do anything to harm Elvis' reputation. I sympathize with those being angry.

Seems like he's not really getting away with it.. hehe!

I do not have anything against the gays. Each one chooses their way. But is hateful that this word is used for to harm the moral rights of another person. That is the most hateful thing.
Never use the word gay for to harm the right of Mr. Elvis Presley even after-life.
I respect gays but I will never accept any adjetive pejorative against Elvis Presley like this word

I don't remember that question when filling out my registration.
Gay or straight ? In case I missed it; I'm straight .;)

I have several friends who are gay. Even our Vice-Presdent has a gay daughter . {though the Repubs. are against it. } She just had a baby.
Do you all have any children??

I believe it was just the way it was used about Elvis.
It was used as another "negative put-down" .
Since Elvis was friends with everyone, I kinda doubt he'd hold that against you or anyone .

No, I'm gay but don't have any children. I can't even support that financially and doubt the integrity of the outside world. Corruption is everywhere.

I don't think Elvis would hold that against me, thanks! But I'm sorry that people associate being gay with an insult.

But it's just as ridiculous as saying Elvis was black or a lady.

There you go "thinking" that was an insult. It wasn't.
I'm just trying to put it in terms where you might see how people intended it as an insult to Elvis.
And, with more of what I said; trying to get you to see, it's no big deal anymore, as it might have been then. It was meant as an insult to Elvis....
by Meyers......he's just in the wrong century.

The people I know who happen to be gay....just accept themselves & so do their friends. They have nothing to prove; so don't dwell on it.
Most are very talented, optimistic people, as they should be.

Sorry if you took it wrong....

I don't think anyone insulted me. I think the comments by Rhys-Meyers are insulting. I'm sorry to see this happen, since some may have anti-gay sentiments because of this while I'm among the first to defend Elvis.

It's not a problem with myself or with you guys, it's just sad to know people do this to Elvis - that's all.
