JJ,

That actually isn't 'underwear' in the normal sense of the word. What he has on are what's called 'dancer's briefs'. They are basically the same thing you would see a male dancer or figure skater wear on their costume because they don't show any lines.

Can you imagine someone selling your underwear on EBay, poor Elvis

Joe Esposito tells a story in his book, Good Rockin Tonight, and during it says Elvis rarely wore underwear, that was during the 60's though, guess everyone gets to an age where you just can't get away with going commando

I read a article some years ago concerning this underwear,if i remember rightly the story was the washing machine at Graceland was used by many people who stayed at Graceland and really could be anybody's including Charlie Hodge.Just because Sonny West has written a note a proof means nothing,he probably profited from writing that note.Anyone remember Dave Hebler and the famous Tupelo velvet shirt he auctioned with a note of authenticity some years ago:hmm:

My son comes home this weekend for Thanksgiving, as soon as he tutors me, I will post the photo I have. There is an interview on EIN or Elvis Australia about Elvis being 'auditioned' for Jackie Gleason, Gleason or someone notices that Elvis' private parts are - commando - and instructs a wrangler to buy 'that boy a jock strap' I'll search for the article and post.
Again, I must say, if Elvis were in these undies (alive, that is) I'd buy them!

Elvis didn't always go commando. I remember reading somewhere that the question about what elvis wore - whitey tighties.....I think maybe in Nancy Rooks, Inside Graceland Book - can't remember.......Jen do you remember from that book?

kellyelvis
11-22-2007, 10:46 AM
id buy them cos they belong to him, but i dont think it right to sell that kind of thing and maybe Elvis was the sort that wore underwear depending on the mood. Like apparently when filming. 'It happened at the worlds Fair' He didnt wear em then. But maybe other times he did. It maybe depends on the kind of trousers he wore. But He'd look fine in or out of em i say. In fact id like to see him with nothing on lol

oooh Oooh ooh i feel my teperature rising........

A big thumbs up to undies with Elvis' face on them. (trademark permitted by EPE, of course.)

A big thumbs WAY DOWN to someone claiming to have Elvis' underwear. That is just not right. I mean, I think he's hot as much as the next girl but seriously. I would not want someone selling what they claim to be my underthings and I doubt seriously that Elvis would either.

I read someplace that Elvis' underwear were on display at Graceland. I do'nt believe this..would E.P.E. sink so low? I might wear a pair of Elvis Boxers (his face on them) All i've ever worn was a shirt with Elvis on it. But back too topic..I even heard they had tell-tell stains (gross) in them. I know T.M.I.

Back in 1977, all i remember is fruit of the looms. Thats what Elvis wore in the army. I apologize for the grafic details of Elvis' underwear supposedly on display at Graceland. Probably just a rumour. I don't know when boxers came out, in the 80's?

The idea that Elvis rarely or never wore undies is a complete myth.

You can see the outline of them on many of the on stage pics from the 70s; and on the publicity shots from the 60s.

cameron
01-20-2008, 06:05 AM
Didn't wear underwear for the most part because of the the rash that developed around the crotch. Which is very painful, by the way. It developed because of the heat and sweating around the crotch. Boxers didn't seem to help much, besides who wants to wear boxers. And hey it did give a kind of "free feeling".
:hmm:I've read that too. Maybe he didn't when "off stage". I know a few men that have that problem.

That "outline" you see in those aonstage photos are dancer's briefs or the kind that figure skaters wear...they're not what I would call "underwear". Elvis wore them because they didn't show any lines.

It's so very easy to lie about saying that someone in the Memphis Mafia has authenticated items; also faking authentication certificates is very easy and wouldn't surprise me if it were common in selling Elvis items. The faking started when Elvis was alive, when his staff faked his signature and even whole letters.

This is one of the thousands of "Elvis owned" :P items that I have no interest in, simply because I don't belive it's authentic (and also because of it's nature ;))
